Jammu Kashmir Announces Two-Day Special Voter Enrolment Drive on October 10-11
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjeev Verma has announced a two-day Special Intensive Voter Enrolment Drive across the Union Territory on October 10 and 11, aimed at ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral rolls.
The drive will be held at all polling stations across Jammu and Kashmir from 9 am to 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, providing eligible citizens an opportunity to enrol as voters and update or correct their electoral particulars.
The announcement was made during a review meeting chaired by Verma with District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to finalise arrangements for the initiative.
Under the programme, weekend voter enrolment and facilitation drives will be organised regularly, allowing citizens to approach their nearest polling station for enrolment and updation of electoral details.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will remain available at all polling stations throughout the two-day drive to assist citizens in submitting Forms 6, 7 and 8. The forms will facilitate voter enrolment, deletion and correction or updation of electoral details.
Citizens will be able to submit the forms physically as well as digitally through the Voter Helpline App, the Election Department said.
Verma directed the election machinery to undertake extensive institutional and public outreach to raise awareness about the initiative. He also called for regular ground-level updates through official social media platforms, including details of polling stations, Assembly Constituencies and districts, so that citizens can easily identify the facilities available in their respective areas.

The CEO further directed BLOs to conduct door-to-door outreach to identify eligible people who may have been left out of the electoral rolls and assist them with enrolment. Particular attention will be given to youth, first-time voters, women, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and other eligible citizens requiring assistance.
Verma urged all eligible citizens to visit their nearest polling station on October 10 or 11 and make use of the enrolment and facilitation services.
He stressed the importance of public participation in keeping the electoral rolls complete, accurate and inclusive.
The Election Department said the initiative forms part of its efforts to make voter enrolment more accessible at the grassroots level and provide every eligible citizen with a convenient opportunity to participate in the electoral process.
