JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 12th August 2026
From 10-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 11-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane, upfilling & uneven surface of the road at Dawal, Udhampur, as well as the single-lane stretch between Manog and Kishanpur Pathar, in addition to the breakdown of 03 vehicles between Nashri and Digdol.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from the Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Traffic remained regulated manner at Dawel, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single lane about 30-40 Mtr.
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/boulders as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as there is apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
HMV Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone area.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 12-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs/Passenger/HPVs/Private Cars/HMVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, avoiding wrong lane driving will save congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
Army/CAPF Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDMC/2026-27578-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDMK/2026-864/87-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies (NHDCL), LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Sinthan and vice-versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PPC Panth towards Anantnag between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Dakson towards Kishtwar between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the DIVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies up to 1300 hrs.
However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
Security convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREIF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Poonch towards Shopian between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs, while from Shopian towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM/PS-28/271/321-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
