Traffic Police Headquarters J&K Issues Traffic Advisory
TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From 03-09-2026, 1600 hrs to 04-09-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane undulations and heavy surface traffic of road. Further movement as well as incidents were reported between Mango and Kishtwar Patther.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, especially in Jammu, Ramban, Srinagar and adjoining areas, commuters are advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and traffic control rooms before starting their journey.
Traffic managed on a regulated manner at Dharam, Udhampur on NH-44 due to a single lane for about 30–40 minutes.
Passengers/LMTV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of strong stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

In view of widening works undertaken by NHAI on Digdo–Kishtwar, hills side on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of Kashmir-bound oil & gas tankers shall remain restricted on the stretch during daytime between 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs as the movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through tunnels. As such, the movement of oil tankers shall be allowed only after 1700 hrs upto 0500 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly in order to avoid any inconvenience and for their safety.
Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters, time to time, as there is apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
HMV/Operators are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicles owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 05-09-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/Pvt Car/HTVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline. Overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
Army/SF Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Force vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
They shall move after convoying the usual traffic of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the State Highway Committee vide No. SDMC/2026-27/575-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KO/2025-26/437-38 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs Passenger/Pvt Car shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PPC Panth towards Srinagar between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings. TCU Jammu/Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timings.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the DVO/COM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Srinagar towards Kargil and from Minimarg towards Srinagar only after removing the road maintenance agencies’ vehicles from the road.
LMVs shall be allowed to move from Minimarg towards Srinagar between 1100 hrs and 1500 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minimarg towards Kargil between 1700 hrs and 1900 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timings.
SF convoy moving on the SSG Road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency concerned, vehicular movement of LMVs followed by HMVs up to 10 tyre/10 tyre only shall be allowed on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh/Bafliaz towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings. As per the orders issued by the concerned authorities, Shopian vide No. 0463/ADC/PS/2026-27/31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
