JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 10th August 2026
From 08-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 09-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane, undulations and breakdown of vehicles. This was especially observed on the stretch between Mughal and Kishtwar Passes. In addition, there were breakdowns of 03 vehicles between Nashri and Ramban.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Traffic was managed on a regulated manner at Dewal, Udhampur on NH-44 due to a single lane for about 30–40 minutes.
Advisory for LMV/Passenger Vehicle Operators
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones, landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
Advisory for Goods Carriers
Goods carrier/HMV/LMV operators carrying fresh/perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per the advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters, as there is apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction works between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
Advisory for HMV Drivers
HMV/HGV operators/drivers are advised to avoid overloading and carry sufficient fuel during their journey on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient anti-skid chains during their journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 10-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs (Good Carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, especially during the movement of traffic. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road clearance.
Army/SF Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa.
They shall move only after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per orders issued by the SDM Chhatroo vide No. SDM/C2026-27578-88 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KN/2026-28487-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after getting clearance from road maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move:
From PP Parana towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs.
From Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0900 hrs and 1600 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing.
TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivComDev/100/2028/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from:
Sonamarg towards Kargil and Minamarg towards Srinagar: after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agency, up to 1300 hrs.
Minamarg towards Srinagar: between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timings.
SFC convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREFA), vehicle movement of LMVs followed by HMVs up to 10 tonnes only shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e.:
Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa
Thanamandi towards Bufliaz
Herpora towards Poonch
These vehicles shall be allowed from 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian, vide No. DM/SHOP/P/2026-27/821-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
