JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 11th July 2026
TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From 06-07-2026, 1800 hrs to 07-07-2026, 1800 hrs:
Movement of all types of vehicles on National Highway-44 (NH-44) shall be allowed between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel in both directions. However, due to maintenance work, no movement shall be allowed between NAVYUG Tunnel and Qazigund.
After assessment of the road condition, local commuters within the Jammu and Kashmir region shall be facilitated up to Nashri from Jammu and Qazigund from the Kashmir side after confirming road status from Traffic Control Units.
Local commuters travelling in private vehicles towards Srinagar are advised to use the old road via Jawahar Tunnel to avoid congestion at Lamber (Banihal).
Similarly, commuters travelling towards Jammu from Kashmir are advised to use the old road via Patnitop while travelling from Ramban to Nashri.
Passenger LMV operators are advised to prefer journeys on the Jammu–Srinagar NH during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides in vulnerable areas. Passengers should avoid travelling in overloaded vehicles.
Goods carriers (HMVs) carrying fresh perishables are advised to load goods in properly covered vehicles to avoid damage due to weather conditions. Traffic Police Headquarters reserves the right to allow or stop traffic depending on road conditions.
Fruit growers, Load Carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishables from the Valley towards Jammu are advised to load and park their vehicles in a timely manner (before 6:00 AM) at designated places between NAVYUG Tunnel and Levdoora on the day of convoy movement to facilitate smooth passage.
HMV operators carrying empty vehicles are advised to carry sufficient fuel during the journey, as traffic may remain halted for several hours due to road conditions or convoy movement.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.
Traffic Plan & Advisory for 11-07-2026
Jammu–Srinagar NH-44
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions:
Passenger vehicles (LMVs) from Jammu towards Srinagar shall be allowed from both sides.
HMVs (Loaded carriers) shall be allowed on the highway after assessing road conditions.
Traffic Police will issue a separate advisory if weather or road conditions deteriorate.
Cut-Off Timing for LMVs (Subject to Traffic Regulation)
Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar:
- 07:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
Qazigund towards Jammu:
- 11:00 AM to 07:00 PM
Traffic Police Headquarters will monitor the situation continuously and may revise timings depending on road and weather conditions.
HMV/Load Carrier Movement
Subject to fair weather, better road conditions and road assessment by Traffic Police on NH-44.
HMVs shall be allowed to move from Qazigund towards Jammu.
Due to ongoing Amarnath Yatra 2026, priority will be given to the movement of trucks carrying fresh perishables.
HMVs carrying empty oil tankers will also be allowed after assessment.
Army Convoy Movement
Army convoy movement shall be managed after considering daily traffic advisories and road conditions. Civilian traffic may be stopped temporarily whenever required for safe convoy passage.
Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road
As per the order of the District Magistrate, one-way traffic regulation remains in force.
Traffic from Sonamarg towards Kargil will be allowed during notified timings.
Vehicles should strictly follow instructions issued by Traffic Police.
Srinagar–Bandipora–Gurez (SBG) Road
Subject to weather and road conditions:
Traffic shall be allowed from both sides.
Commuters are advised to check the latest road status before starting their journey.
Mughal Road
Subject to fair weather and road conditions:
Traffic shall be allowed from both directions.
Passenger vehicles should follow the timings notified by the district administration.
Commuters should avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather.
