JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 12-05-2026
From 10-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 11-05-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwar Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 02 HMV’s at Hingni and Nachelana (on Kishtwar side).
Owing to ongoing movement of 03 nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwar Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones /landslides. Movement of nomads towards valleys as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs, Passenger/HPVs/Private Cars/HMVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
SFS Convoy Movement:
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244:
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026/271/49-58 dated 05-05-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/26-27/2017-04 dated 01-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after carrying green signal from TCU Ramban, Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag traffic shall be allowed daily from PC Pahalgam towards Srinagar from 08:30 hrs. No vehicles shall be allowed from PC Paranas towards PC Anantnag. Vehicles shall move in a convoy with the TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar till information is conveyed about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD:
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed to ply from Kargil towards Srinagar via SSG Road. In view of the apprehension of avalanches along Zojila axis, these vehicles shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1030 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SFS Convoy Movement on SSG Road:
Security Forces vehicles shall ply from Kargil towards Srinagar as per convoy timing to be issued by TCU Srinagar.
Mughal Road:
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS/25-26/278-85 dated 22-04-2026 and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DMP/J37-91 dated 22-04-2026, and subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to six tyres only) shall be allowed on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Bafliaz) towards Shopian between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs and from Peer Gali towards Poonch between 1000 hrs and 1600 hrs, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF). No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
