Traffic Advisory for NH-44, Mughal Road, SSG Road and Other Major Routes

(From 10-07-2026, 10:00 PM to 14-07-2026, 10:00 AM)

Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K has issued a traffic advisory regarding the movement of vehicles on National Highway-44 (NH-44), Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road, Mughal Road, and other major routes across Jammu and Kashmir.

Local Traffic Movement

Local commuters in the Jammu and Kashmir region are advised to follow the directions of Traffic Police personnel.

Slow movement is expected due to road widening works, maintenance activities, and heavy traffic.

Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles

Heavy vehicles should avoid using the old road via Jaswant Tunnel to prevent congestion at Lamberi (Baflia).

Passenger Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and private cars should travel during daylight hours only.

Goods carriers and passenger vehicles must ensure that their vehicles are mechanically fit before beginning the journey.

Drivers are advised to carry sufficient fuel, drinking water, and other essential supplies.

NH-44 Traffic Plan

Traffic movement on NH-44 will be regulated depending upon:

Weather conditions

Road surface status

Traffic density

Ongoing maintenance work

Vehicles must follow the instructions issued by Traffic Police and Road Maintenance Agencies.

Traffic Plan for 12–13 July 2026

Subject to fair weather and road conditions, Passenger/Private LMVs will be allowed from both sides of NH-44.

Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) and Load Carriers will be permitted as per traffic management requirements.

Commuters should avoid unnecessary travel during peak traffic hours.

Pilgrims travelling for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra should strictly follow the instructions issued by the administration and Traffic Police.

Cut-Off Timings on NH-44

The following cut-off timings shall remain in force:

From Nagrota (Jammu Side)

Heavy vehicles towards Srinagar: 07:00 AM – 12:00 Noon

Light Motor Vehicles: As per Traffic Police regulation.

From Qazigund (Kashmir Side)

Traffic towards Jammu will be regulated according to road conditions and convoy movement.

No vehicle will be allowed beyond the designated cut-off timings.

HMVs/Load Carriers

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Heavy Motor Vehicles carrying essential commodities will be allowed after clearance from Traffic Control Units (TCUs).

Empty oil tankers, LPG carriers, and other heavy commercial vehicles shall move only as per the directions of Traffic Police.

Army Convoy Movement

During the movement of Army convoys:

Civilian vehicles should maintain a safe distance.

Overtaking convoy vehicles is strictly prohibited.

Follow instructions given by security personnel.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road

Passenger vehicles and private cars will be allowed subject to road and weather conditions.

Heavy vehicles may face restrictions depending upon road status.

Mughal Road (Buffliaz–Shopian)

Subject to fair weather, passenger vehicles, LMVs, and motorcycles will be allowed from both sides.

Heavy commercial vehicles may be restricted depending on traffic and weather conditions.

Before starting your journey:

Check the latest traffic status.

Follow all instructions issued by Traffic Police.

Ensure your vehicle is in good mechanical condition.

Carry sufficient fuel, water, medicines, and emergency supplies.

Avoid travelling during night hours unless absolutely necessary.

Drive carefully in landslide-prone and construction zones.
