JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 13th August 2026
From 11-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 12-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions at Dawal, Udhampur, as well as the single-lane stretch between Morgah and Kishanpur, in addition to the breakdown of 03 vehicles between Ramban and Banihal.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Traffic Advisory
Traffic is being managed in a regulated manner at Dawal, Udhampur on NH-44 due to a single-lane stretch of about 30–40 metres.
Passenger/LWV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones, landslides and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishables/live stock are advised to load their vehicles as per the advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time, as apprehension of shooting stones, landslides and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal may cause inconvenience to commuters.
HMV operators/owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during their journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Vehicle owners are also requested to double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journeys on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting-stone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 13-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs/Passenger/HMV/Private Cars/HMVs (Goods carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, maintain safe distances and drive cautiously. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
Army/SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Force vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per orders issued by the SDM Kishtwar vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/578-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDMKNG/2025/2897-98 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after getting confirmation from the Traffic Police Control Room, LMVs/Private Cars/Passenger Vehicles shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Panar towards Anantnag between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar shall inform and coordinate regarding the cut-off timing.
SSG Road
As per order issued by the DivCom Kashmir vide No. DivComDev/100/2026/4382-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil only after confirmation regarding the road condition.
Traffic shall be regulated through signals from the road maintenance agencies up to 1300 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SFs convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not obstructed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicle movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DM/ASDMP/26/27/21-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
