JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 18th May 2026
From 16-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 17-05-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwar Patta, in addition to the breakdown of 02 HMVs at Nachlana and T4, and the movement of 15 nomadic herds (crossing Nachlana–Banihal).
Owing to ongoing movement of 02 nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch between Marog to Kishtwar Patta is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passenger / LMV Operators
Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44 only after assessing the weather forecast. Nomadic herds crossing towards the valley are still ongoing. Slow movement of nomads towards valley is causing congestion between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs, Passenger/PSVs and private cars will be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44.
HMVs (Heavy Motor Vehicles) shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar only after assessing road conditions, weather, clearance of traffic jams and availability of parking at Jammu/Srinagar.
No TU/TC movement shall be allowed due to road condition.
SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44.
Note: Vehicles shall move after confirming the status of NH-44.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/49-58 dated 05-05-2026 and SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KGR/26-27/201-207 dated 01-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from road maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), only LMVs, Passenger/PSVs, Taxis shall be allowed to ply from Kishtwar towards Srinagar via Sinthan Top.
These vehicles shall be allowed from PR Ramban between 0700 hrs to 1530 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/Qazigund shall ensure compliance.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the DIVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil via Meenamarg.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and vice-versa between 0500 hrs to 1800 hrs.
HMVs shall be allowed from Srinagar between 1200 hrs to 1500 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1500 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains during slippery road conditions.
SFs convoy moving from Kargil towards Srinagar shall move in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road :
As per order issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS/25-26/726-85 dated 22-04-2026 and District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DM/P/376-91 dated 22-04-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, public transport and LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Mughal Road between 0700 hrs to 1700 hrs.
No HMVs shall be allowed.
After 1700 hrs, vehicles from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs and from Poonch towards Shopian between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs shall be allowed after clearance from TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timings. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall ensure compliance.
