JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 26th May 2026
From 24-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 25-05-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane conditions between Marog and Kishatwar Pathri, in addition to the breakdown of 03 HMVs at Nachlana and Ramsoo, and the movement of nomads (crossing Nachlana–Banihal).
Owing to ongoing movement of 03 nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishatwar Pathri is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journeys on the Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to apprehensions of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads towards valleys, and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs, Passenger/HPSVs/Private Cars/HMVs (Good Carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via NH-44 (day time) towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall be contacted with TCU Ramban regarding road conditions.
SFs Convoy Movement:
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244:
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/149-58 dated 05-05-2026 and SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/26-27/201-207 dated 01-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance agencies (NHDCL), only LMVs, Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from Kishtwar towards Srinagar via Sinthan Top. These vehicles shall be allowed from PP Parana between 0930 hrs to 1530 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD :
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4382-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari road i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar (only after receiving green signal from road maintenance agencies) up to 1300 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1500 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1500 hrs. TCU Srinagar is advised to carry and use anti-skid chain to gain more grip on slippery roads. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
Mughal Road :
As per orders issued by the District Magistrate Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM/PS/25-26/278-85 dated 22-04-2026 and the District Magistrate Poonch vide No. DMPJ/376-91 dated 22-04-2026, and subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs) shall be allowed from both sides on the Mughal Road from 0600 hrs to 1700 hrs. The cut-off timing for vehicles from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa shall be allowed from Chandimarg (Baffliaz) towards Shopian between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs. After attaining clearance from road maintenance agency (GREF), no vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
