JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 28th July 2026

From 26-07-2026, 1800 hrs to 27-07-2026, 1600 hrs, Jammu–Srinagar NHW remained closed for 05 hours due to a landslide near Doval Bridge, Udhampur, in addition to the breakdown of 02 vehicles at Digdol and Nachlana.

In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the MeT Department, with likely spells of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of roads from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page before planning their journey.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 28-07-2026

Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Today, in the early morning, a massive landslide hit the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) near Doval Bridge, Udhampur, blocking the carriageway. Traffic has been entirely restored while road clearance work is still underway.

The decision regarding vehicular movement on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) shall be taken tomorrow after assessing the road condition on NH-44 and the prevailing weather conditions.

Commuters are advised to avoid travelling on NH-44 until the highway is declared safe and clear for traffic.

Kishtwar – Sinthan – Anantnag NH-244

As per the order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/578-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/2025-26/487-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after getting a green signal from the Road Maintenance Agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move:

From Paryana towards Anantnag: 0800 hrs to 1000 hrs

From Daksum towards Kishtwar: 0900 hrs to 1100 hrs

No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing.

TCU Jammu / Ramban / TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SSG ROAD

As per the order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri Road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.

Movement schedule:

Vehicles from Sonamarg towards Kargil: allowed after receiving green signal from the Road Maintenance Agencies up to 1300 hrs.

HMVs: allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.

Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on slippery roads.

TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SFs convoy moving on the SSG Road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.

Mughal Road (NH-701A)

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the Road Maintenance Agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs) shall be allowed to ply from both sides.

Vehicles from Poonch towards Shopian will be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides.

Vehicles from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed convoy of 100 hrs and 1800 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.

As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS/26-27/321-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
