TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From 27-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 28-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane movement in Ramban and Udhampur, as well as breakdowns of 03 vehicles between Ramban and Kishtwar Pathar.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the MeT, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Jammu/Ramban/Udhampur. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handles and Facebook pages.
Traffic was managed in a regulated manner at Chenani, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single-lane movement for about 30–40 metres.
Advisory for Passengers/LNVM Operators
Passengers/LNVM operators are advised to prefer journey on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 Widening Work
In view of widening work being undertaken by NHAI on the Digdol-Khooni Nalla axis on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of Ramban-bound and Srinagar-bound heavy vehicles has been restricted on this stretch during the period from 0700 hrs to 1500 hrs.
The movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through the tunnel. These vehicles will be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs up to 0500 hrs.

Tankers are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during their journey.
Goods Carrier Advisory
Goods carrier (HMV/LWV) operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters.
There are also apprehensions of shooting stones/landslides, along with ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
HMVs / Fuel Advisory
HMVs operators/owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during their journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double-check the status of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journeys on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 29-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs (Goods carriers) shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
Commuters are advised to follow the advisory. Overtaking, wrong-lane driving and other traffic violations may cause congestion.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
Army/BSF Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, security forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Kishtwar vide No. SDM/K/2026-27/578-85 dated 04-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KG/2026-28/45-56 dated 05-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after getting clearance signals from Road Maintenance agencies (NHAI/NHIDCL), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars and light vehicles from both sides shall be allowed to ply from Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.
Security forces vehicles shall be allowed to move from POP Parnath towards Anantnag between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Dakum towards Kishtwar between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG Road
As per order issued by the DVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivComDev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minimarg towards Srinagar only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies up to 1500 hrs.
However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1500 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry adequate fuel and sufficient cash in case of any delay on the slippery road.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SF convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-144A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (R&B), vehicular movement for LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Chandimarh (Poonch) towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ACM/PS25-27/321-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timing.
