JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 4th August 2026

From 02-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 03-08-2026, 1800 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to a single lane, undulating and uneven surface of the road at Dawal, Udhampur, as well as the single-lane stretch between Marog and Kishtwari Pather. In addition, there was a breakdown of two vehicles at Marog and Nachlana.

In view of the inclement weather forecast by the IMD with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle, Facebook page, etc.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 04-08-2026

Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Restoration work is still in progress at the Dawal slide near Dawal Bridge in the Samroli area of Udhampur District on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). The affected stretch has been reduced to a single carriageway, and the road surface is highly slushy, muddy and extremely slippery. The decision regarding vehicular movement shall be taken tomorrow after obtaining the green signal from NHAI and assessing the road condition on NH-44. Commuters are advised to avoid travelling on NH-44 until the highway is declared safe and clear for traffic. Please don’t pay heed to the rumours and check the status of road at the Traffic Twitter handle, Facebook page, TCUs.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244

As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/578-88 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kishtwar vide No. SDM/KNG/2026-28/487-88 dated 08-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs, Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Anantnag and vice versa on the Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Parana towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0900 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SSG Road

As per order issued by the DIVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/10/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar (only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies) up to 1300 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SFG convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.

Mughal Road (NH-701A)

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimari (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings. As per the order issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS/26-27/321-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
