JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 7th July 2026
Traffic Advisory for NH-44 due to single-lane conditions and ongoing maintenance works.
After the cut-off timings, the inter-district movement of local commuters within Jammu and Kashmir region shall be facilitated up to Jakheni (Udhampur) and Nagrota (Jammu) after verification of valid photo identity cards.
Commuters travelling to Batote, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and adjoining areas are advised to use the old road via Pehlampoo while travelling from Jammu in order to avoid stretching at Nashri.
Passenger LMVs/operators are advised to carry anti-skid chains while travelling through slippery areas. Night travel shall be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides and poor visibility, particularly between Ramban and Banihal and along the Shaitan Nallah stretch.
Goods carriers (HCMVs) carrying perishable livestock and fresh produce are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time.
Fruit growers/local carrier (HCMVs) carrying fresh perishable fruit may load their vehicles in Jammu as advised and park only at designated places before their movement on NH-44.
HMV operators/passengers are requested to avoid overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journeys on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway. They are also advised to carry basic vehicle maintenance tools and ensure vehicle fitness before travel.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.

NH-44
Keeping in view the weather and road conditions, SANJY convoy, LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44. HMVs (load carriers) shall be allowed on alternate days only. Traffic will be regulated by the Traffic Control Unit (TCU) based on road conditions.

Cut-off Timings for LMVs/Passenger Vehicles
Vehicles from Jammu towards Srinagar :
Nagrota (Jammu) Toll Plaza: 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs
Jakheni (Udhampur): 0800 hrs to 1300 hrs
Qazigund towards Srinagar: 1100 hrs to 1700 hrs
Traffic Control Units at Jammu and Srinagar will regulate traffic according to prevailing road conditions. No vehicle shall be allowed to move before or after the notified cut-off timings.
HMV/Load Carrier Movement
Subject to fair weather and road conditions and subject to the availability of sufficient road width, HMVs carrying essential commodities shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar after assessment by Traffic Police.
Movement of stranded HMVs will also be facilitated based on road conditions.
Empty LPG tankers, fuel tankers, and vehicles carrying livestock and other perishable commodities shall be given priority.
Army Convoy Movement
Army vehicles shall be allowed to move between Nagrota and Navyug Tunnel in accordance with the traffic plan and subject to road conditions.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
The Kishtwar–Sinthan road remains closed for vehicular movement due to road damage at multiple locations caused by heavy rainfall and cloudbursts.
SSG Road
No movement shall be allowed on the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri Road due to maintenance work and weather conditions unless specifically permitted by the authorities.
Mughal Road
Subject to fair weather and road conditions, traffic shall be allowed from both directions.
Movement of LMVs followed by HMVs carrying only fresh/perishable goods shall be regulated as per the traffic plan issued by Traffic Police.
Advisory
People are advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from the Traffic Control Units.
