JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 7th August 2026

Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, Jammu/Srinagar has issued a detailed traffic advisory for commuters and travellers regarding the movement of traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), Srinagar–Leh Highway, Mughal Road, Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri Road, and other important routes.

The advisory highlights regulated traffic movement, restrictions for certain categories of vehicles, ongoing road works, and special arrangements in view of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026.

Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)

Traffic on NH-44 will remain subject to the prevailing road and weather conditions. Commuters have been advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the highway.

The Traffic Police has particularly advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel, maintain lane discipline, follow the directions of traffic personnel, and avoid overtaking at vulnerable stretches.

Traffic may be regulated or temporarily stopped at certain locations depending on congestion, road conditions, weather, or other operational requirements.

Advisory for Heavy Motor Vehicles

The movement of HMVs and other heavy vehicles will remain regulated at different locations along the highway.

Drivers of heavy vehicles have been advised to strictly follow the directions issued by Traffic Police personnel and avoid overloading or improper parking, particularly along congested stretches and road-construction zones.

Jammu–Srinagar Traffic Movement

Passengers travelling between Jammu and Srinagar have been advised to plan their journey carefully as traffic movement may be affected by congestion, road maintenance works, weather conditions and regulated traffic arrangements.

Commuters travelling towards Doda, Kishtwar, Batote, Banihal and adjoining areas are also advised to check the road status before starting their journey.

Srinagar–Leh Highway

Traffic movement on the Srinagar–Leh Highway will be regulated according to the prevailing road conditions.

Travellers heading towards Sonamarg, Baltal, Zojila and Gumri should follow the instructions of Traffic Police and security personnel. Movement may be restricted depending on weather, road conditions and traffic congestion.

Mughal Road

Commuters travelling through Mughal Road are advised to remain cautious and follow the prescribed traffic regulations.

The road may experience restrictions or regulated movement depending on traffic conditions and the ongoing arrangements.

Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri Road

Traffic Police has also issued instructions for commuters using the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri route.

Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026

Special traffic arrangements are in place in view of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026.

Traffic movement around the Baltal and Pahalgam Yatra routes will remain subject to the movement of pilgrims and security arrangements. Commuters are advised to cooperate with the authorities and avoid obstructing the movement of Yatra vehicles.

Tourists and other travellers visiting Kashmir, Ladakh and adjoining areas have been advised to plan their journeys according to the latest traffic situation. Those travelling towards Sonamarg, Zojila, Drass, Leh, Pahalgam and other tourist destinations should check the road conditions before departure.
