J&K police seize Rs 3.5 crore assets of Srinagar drug smugglers
Continuing its rigorous crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Initiative), Srinagar Police, acting under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act through Police Station Sangam, has seized two immovable properties worth Rs 3.5 crore linked to accused individuals involved in drug trafficking, as part of its sustained efforts to dismantle narcotics networks and curb the spread of illegal drugs in the region.
Police Station Sangam, acting under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, attached two immovable properties linked to the accused persons involved in FIR No. 56/2025 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

The details of the attached properties are as follows:
A double-story residential house along with 1 kanal of land, belonging to accused Shakeel Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Satar Ganie, resident of Kreshbal, Noorbagh, Srinagar. The property is valued at over Rs 2 crore.
A double-story residential house along with 1 kanal of land, belonging to the accused Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rehman Mir, resident of Kreshbal, Noorbagh, Srinagar. The property is valued at approximately Rs 1.5 crore.
The attached properties have been identified as illegally acquired assets generated through the proceeds of drug trafficking.
Anti-drug campaign across J-K
Earlier today, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha participated in an anti-drug campaign in Samba and pledged to eliminate drugs from society.
“Today in Samba, a massive crowd joined the Drug-Free J and K campaign and; pledged to eliminate drugs from society. Addressing the gathering, I reiterated that this 100-day movement will inspire future generations & stand as proof that when people rise together, they can change history,” he said in a post on X.
“I told Samba’s youth that the solution to this grave problem lies in their hands. Their dreams are powerful; their potential limitless and; society must rally behind them to make those dreams real. I urged them to stay firm on the right path with determination,” he added.

As of April 2026, the Union Territory has launched a 100-day intensive campaign running from April 10 to July 9 to transition from awareness to a full-blown “Jan Abhiyaan” (mass movement).
The mission was kick-started by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on April 11, 2026.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed 20 senior officers as District Mentors to oversee de-addiction efforts and enforcement measures across all districts.
