J&K Weather Situation

Light rainfall has been observed since early morning. Since 10:00 AM, moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded across large parts of the South Kashmir catchment.

According to Doppler Radar imagery, rainfall intensity of approximately 20–30 mm per hour may have occurred in the upper catchment of South Kashmir (Pir Panjal Range).

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the current rainfall intensity is expected to continue until 3:00–4:00 PM today and decrease thereafter. A fresh spell of rainfall is likely to develop later tonight or during the early hours of tomorrow.

Hydrological Situation :
A marginal rise in water levels has been observed in the tributaries, nallahs, and the River Jhelum.

In response to the rainfall that has occurred and the additional rainfall expected during the day, water levels in the tributaries and the River Jhelum are likely to rise further.

Advisory :

1. Avoid venturing near water channels, khuls, nallahs, rivers, or other flood-prone areas, particularly in higher reaches and hilly regions.

2. Exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel or movement in vulnerable and flood-prone locations to prevent any loss of life or property.

3. Residents of low-lying areas are advised to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautionary measures, including staying updated with the latest weather and flood advisories issued by the authorities.

4. All concerned line departments are advised to remain on standby and maintain readiness for any emergency response.
