Trump hints at fresh Iran attack as early as Sunday, keeps door open for deal
US President Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of renewed military action against Iran as early as Sunday, while leaving open the prospect of a diplomatic agreement amid escalating tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to reporters in Florida on Saturday after casting his ballot, Trump said Tehran wanted to reach a deal but questioned whether Iran would honour its commitments.
When asked whether Washington could launch another attack, Trump said, “Do you really think I would tell you that? Maybe tomorrow…There’s a possibility I will. There’s also a possibility we’ll have a nice, big, beautiful agreement. They want to make a deal, but the problem is, will they hold the deal?”
Trump defended his administration’s military campaign in West Asia, claiming that US forces had inflicted significant damage on Iran’s military capabilities.
