Poonch Terror Attack | CASO enters 6th day
Security forces Friday resorted to ‘speculative firing’ after noticing suspicious movement while the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Shaistar and adjoining areas in Poonch continued, for the sixth consecutive day.
The entire area has been under cordon since May 4 following the terror attack. Terrorists had ambushed a convoy of Indian Air Force (IAF) vehicles. One IAF soldier was killed while four others were injured when terrorists fired indiscriminately on the IAF vehicles.
“As Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) continued on the sixth day in Poonch areas, gunshots were heard from the site of the operation. Following it, heavy reinforcement has been rushed to tighten the cordon,” officials said.
Areas under the cordon include Sanai Top, Shaistar Top, Danna Top and Shindra Top.
“Security forces, after noticing suspicious movement on Friday, resorted to area domination speculative firing which was still going on. Cordon has been tightened,” officials said.
