Jammu News : Prohibitory Orders Issued on Sale and Consumption of Liquor and Non-Vegetarian Food in Katra and Surrounding Areas

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Katra, Shri Piyush Dhotra, has issued fresh prohibitory orders restricting the sale, possession, and consumption of liquor and non-vegetarian food items—including eggs, chicken, meat, mutton, seafood, fish, prawns, and lobster—within Katra Town and specified adjoining areas under the Sub-Division’s jurisdiction.

“In suppression of all previous orders on the subject, I, Piyush Dhotra, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Katra, by virtue of powers vested in me under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), hereby prohibit the sale, possession, and consumption of liquor and non-vegetarian food items such as eggs, chicken, meat, mutton, seafood, fish, prawns, lobster, etc., in Katra Town and the following areas falling under the territorial jurisdiction of Sub-Division, Katra,” the official order states.

The restrictions apply to the following areas:

The track from Katra to the Holy Cave and villages within a 2 km radius on both sides of the track.

Arli, Hansali, and Matyal villages.

Within 200 meters on both sides of the Katra-Tikri Road, including villages Chamba, Serli, and Bhagta.

Within 200 meters on both sides of the Katra-Jammu Road, covering villages Kundrorian, Kotli Bajallian, Nomain, and Maghal.

Within 200 meters on both sides of the Katra-Reasi Road from Katra to Nau Devian and the Aghar Jitto and Nau Devian markets.

Within 200 meters on both sides of the Katra Railway Station–Sool Road.

Within 100 meters on both sides of the Panthal–Domall Road.

The order will remain in effect for two months from the date of issuance, unless it is withdrawn earlier
