TN CM Vijay launches ‘Thai Maaman’ scheme; babies born in govt hospitals to get gold rings

Chief minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday launched the Thai Maaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam at Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH), Madurai, to provide one-gram gold rings to babies born in government hospitals across Tamil Nadu.

The state has earmarked *₹755.83 crore for the scheme this year*, with around *4.41 lakh newborns* expected to benefit annually.
