TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 01-05-2026
From 29-04-2026, 1600 hrs to 30-04-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane conditions between Marog and Kishwar Pather, and additional slow movement of 02 non-load carriers (crossing Nachlana–Banihal). Owing to ongoing movement of 02 nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishwar Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
In view of the move of officers and to facilitate smooth and hassle-free movement of the convoy of Secretariat employees from Jammu to Srinagar, no movement of goods carriers (HMVs) shall be allowed on the Jammu–Srinagar NH (NH-44) on 1st and 3rd May 2026. Friday and Sunday. Furthermore, no goods carriers (HMVs) shall be allowed from Jammu towards Ramban, Banihal, Srinagar, etc., after 2400 hrs on 30th April and 2nd May, 2026 (intervening nights of 30th April/1st May and 2nd/3rd May, 2026).
Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NH during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads towards valley as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, tomorrow only passenger LMVs/HPVs/private cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides on the Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e., from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa. However, HMVs shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar and from Qazigund towards Jammu only after the convoy of Secretariat employees crosses the Naughal Tunnel. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road condition.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road is temporarily closed due to snow accumulation.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies (LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road). In view of apprehension of avalanches along the Zojila axis, these vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1300 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains to pass over Zojila. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timings. SSG Convoy, moving from Srinagar towards Kargil, shall plan their movement in such a manner so that civil traffic does not get disturbed.
Mughal Road
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-SPS/25-26/726-85 dated 22-04-2026 and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DMP/J/376-91 dated 22-04-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to six tyres only) shall be allowed on Mughal Road from both sides (i.e., from Poonch side towards Shopian side and vice versa) from 0800 hrs to 1700 hrs. However, HMVs up to 10 tyres shall be allowed after clearance from road maintenance agencies (GREF). No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
