TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 02-05-2026
From 30-04-2026, 1600 hrs. to 01-05-2026, 1600 hrs. slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwaral Pather. In addition to the breakdown of 03 HMV’s (01 at Digdol and 02 at Dewal Bridge Udhampur) and the movement of 12 nomadic herds (crossing Nachlana–Banihal).
Owing to ongoing movement of 04 nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwaral Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
In view of the move of officers and to facilitate the smooth and hassle-free movement of convoy of Secretariat employees from Jammu to Srinagar, no movement of goods carriers (HMVs/LMVs) shall be allowed on the Jammu/Srinagar NH-44 on 02-05-2026 (Sunday). Furthermore, no goods carriers (HMVs/LMVs) shall be allowed from Jawahar Tunnel towards Ramban, Banihal, Srinagar, etc., and from Qazigund towards Banihal, Ramban, Udhampur, etc., after 2400 hrs on 2nd May, 2026 (intervening night of 2nd/3rd May, 2026).
Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomadic herds, etc. Sufficient accommodation/tourist facilities are available en-route.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs/Passenger/Private cars/HMVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate.
SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road is still closed due to snow accumulation.
SSG Road
Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies), LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed to ply from Kargil towards Srinagar on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road. In view of the apprehension of avalanches along the Zojila axis, these vehicles shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and on vehicular halt on other side. Similarly, no HMVs shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Kargil without confirmation from road maintenance agencies. SFs Convoy movement shall be allowed only after confirmation from road maintenance agencies that CUT is clear.
Mughal Road
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS-25/2026-58 dated 22-04-2026 and District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DM/JC/376-91 dated 22-04-2026 subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to six tyres only) shall be allowed on Mughal Road from 0600 hrs. (i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa). These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Bafliaz) towards Shopian between 0500 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF). No vehicular movement shall be allowed after the cut-off timings. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall coordinate accordingly.
