Public Notice regarding Traffic Restrictions for Independence Day 2026.
On the eve of Independence Day 2026, the main function is to be celebrated at MA Stadium Jammu. The following traffic parking arrangements are put in place for the convenience of general public, participants and invitees.
1. PARKING SLOTS AVAILABLE.
The following 29 Parking slots have been earmarked in connection with the Independence Day 2026 celebration.

2. PARKING SLOTS FOR PASS HOLDERS; –
General Instructions: –
i. Ail the pass holders shall enter to their respective parking slots earmarked for them by Civil Administration and get their vehicles parked accordingly in the allotted parking Slot.
ii. Car passes shall be pasted on the front windscreen of the vehicles to get entry as per the allotted parking pass on first come first park basis.
iii. No other parking slot /short cut approach towards the allotted parking slot shall be allowed to avoid last moment confusion.

2. Hockey Ground/ Audicnce/Participants All Buses carrying Audience/ Participants/ Cricket Ground (School Buses coming Spectators/ School Buses of City North Jammu GGM Science from City North Jammu) shall enter from the Main Gate of GGM Science College College for parking at Hockey Ground/Cricket Ground GGM Science College.
3. Old University Army / Para Military All Army / Para Military Vehicles Carrying Campus Vehicles Carrying Families shall park their vehicles inside Old
Families University Campus and enter the Venue from Commerce College Boys Hostel Gate.
4. Dry Fruit Mandi Escort Vehicles 1. All Protection/ Escort Vehicles shall be parking area peeled off at Jewel Chowk and shall park
their vehicles in Dry Fruit Mandi parking area/ JDA Parking Slot Jewel in an orderly manner.
2. The PSOs/ drivers of the Escort vehicles shall remain available/present in their respective vehicles.
5. JDA Parking Jewel Chowk -do- -do-
iv. Rest all other parking slots shall be utilized / filled as per the parking passes issued to them by District Administration.
3. PARKING FOR GENERAL PUBLIC WITHOUT PASSES.
No Vehicle carrying General Public (without Passes) shall be allowed beyond the Cut-offpoints mentioned below at Para No. 05. However, they shall be guided by the Traffic , Police Personnel deployed for duty regarding the parking to be used.
4. PARKING FOR OFFICERS/ OFFICIALS DEPLOYED FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY DUTIES: –
All vehicles of Officers/ Officials coming for Duty inside M.A Stadium Jammu as well as around the stadium shall park their vehicles at Gurudwara Bibi Chand Kour Parking and shall not park their vehicles anywhere on roadside.
5. CUT OFF POINTS FOR VEHICULAR MOVEMENT:
No vehicle without Passes shall be allowed to proceed beyond the below named cut off points towards Venue.
i. Bikram Chowk
ii. Canal Head
iii. J.P Chowk
iv. Shakuntala Crossing
6. RESTRICTED AREAS
i. Fly Over stretch from Green Belt Park to Vigilance Rotary via Bikram Chowk (both Tubes).
ii. Tawi Bridge (up tube towards flyover)
iii. Bhagat Singh Chowk to Jewal Chowk.
7. TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS / DIVERSIONS.
i. All Vehicles carrying Parade and Cultural Contingents coming from Akhnoor/Talab Tillo side shall be diverted from Canal Head towards 4th Tawi Bridge Bhagwati Nagar – Ware blouse – Asia Crossing – Bikram Chowk – Tawi Bridge and shall remain parked at Right Bank Tawi River Front, Mandir Masjid point.
ii. All vehicles carrying Parade and Cultural Contingents coming from Nagrota/ Old City/ Janipur side shall follow the route from B.C Road – Jewal Chowk – Dogra Chowk – Tawi Bridge – Bikram Chowk – U-turn towards Tawi Bridge – Mandir Masjid Point – Right Bank Tawi River Front, Mandir Masjid point.
iii. All vehicles carrying Parade and Cultural Contingents coming from City South Jammu shall follow the route from Asia Crossing – Bikram Chowk – Tawi Bridge – Mandir Masjid Point – Right Bank Tawi River Front, Mandir Masjid point.
iv. All vehicles carrying Participants/ Audience/ Spectators/ Students coming from Akhnoor / Talab Tillo Side shall follow the route from Bakshi Nagar Pulli – Maheshpora Chowk – Shakuntala Crossing – B.C Road – Jewal Chowk – Hockey Ground/ Cricket Ground Parking slot.
v. All vehicles carrying Participants/ Audience/ spectators/ Students coming from Old City/ Janipur /Nagrota side shall follow the route from Shakuntala Shakuntala Crossing – B.C Road – Jewal Chowk – Hockey Ground/ Cricket Ground Parking slot.
vi. All Buses Carrying Participants/ Audience/ Spectators/ Students coming from City South Jammu shall follow the route from Asia Crossing – Bikram Chowk – Tawi Bridge – Mandir Masjid Point – Right Bank Tawi River Front, Mandir Masjid point.
vii. All the PSVs/ Buses/ Mini Buses operating from Kathua , Samba, Bari Brahmana, Srinagar, Udhampur, Katra, Doda, Banihal, Rajouri, Poonch, R.S Pura, Miran Sahib, Bishnah, Gangyal, Mandal Phallian shall be diverted accordingly on alternate routes viz, Kunjwani Chowk, TCP Nagrota, Narwal, Bagh-e-Bahu Crossing, Satwari Chowk, Main Stop Gandhi Nagar, Asia Crossing via 4th Tawi Bridge, Bhagwati Nagar Rotary, Bakshi Nagar, Canal Head during the celebration of National Function.
viii. During the celebration of the National festival till conclusion of the functions, strict diversions shall be enforced on ground. However, emergency Vehicles shall be allowed.
ix. For the convenient movement of general public, Gujjar Nagar Bridge, Sidhra Bridge and 4lh Tawi Bjridge Bhagwati Nagar are kept free from restrictions but shall follow the diversions put in place.
x. General Public planning to go from City North towards Railway Station/Airport / South side of Jammu City shall opt the following routes during the restriction period:-
a) Indira Chowk – J.P Chowk – Vivekananda Chowk – Gujjar Nagar Bridge and further towards the destination.
b) Panjtirthi to Circular Road towards Gujjar Nagar Bridge and vice versa. Same routes can be adopted by people willing to go from South to North side.
Moreover, people who intends to go Akhnoor, Talab Tillo, Paloura etc shall adopt 4th Tawi Bridge via Bhagwati Nagar/ Canal head.
Keeping in view the restrictions/diversions for hassle free passage of National Festival, the public in general is requested to co-operate with the Traffic Police/Local Police and plan their travel accordingly to reach their destinations.
