1. India’s Forex Reserves Reach Record High
India’s foreign exchange reserves rose to a record $729.33 billion as of August 21, 2026. The increase was supported by strong capital inflows and higher foreign-currency assets and gold holdings.
2. Three New NIA Special Courts Established
The Government has established three new National Investigation Agency (NIA) special courts in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar to speed up the trial of terrorism-related cases.
3. Industrial Output Growth Falls to 6.7%
India’s industrial production growth reportedly declined to 6.7% in July 2026, compared with 8.8% in June.
4. Critical Minerals Innovation Hackathon 2026 Launched
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy launched the Critical Minerals Innovation Hackathon 2026 (CMiH 2026) to encourage technology-based solutions and strengthen India’s critical-minerals ecosystem.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has released the Class 11 result for 2026. Students can check their results through the official JKBOSE result facility.
7. Flood Risk Highlighted for J&K and Ladakh
Recent catastrophic flooding in Nepal has raised concerns about similar vulnerabilities in Himalayan regions, including Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, where flash floods, landslides and glacial hazards remain major risks.

8. New Prime Minister Elected in Pakistan-Administered Kashmir
Syed Iftikhar Ali Gillani of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was elected Prime Minister of Pakistan-administered Kashmir on August 28, securing 30 of 44 votes in the regional assembly.
9. India Signs Javelin Missile Agreement with US
India signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance with the United States for procurement of the Javelin anti-tank guided missile system, strengthening defence cooperation between the two countries.
