1. India’s GDP Growth Reaches 7.8% in Q2 2026
India recorded 7.8% GDP growth in the second quarter of 2026, exceeding the 7.1% growth forecast in a Reuters poll. The strong performance was supported by manufacturing, investment and consumer demand.
However, the GDP figures have also triggered debate among economists regarding the methodology and the extent to which the reported real growth reflects conditions in employment and investment. The government has defended its revised GDP methodology.
2. India-France Defence Cooperation: Bharat Forge and Thales Sign Agreement
India’s Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), a Bharat Forge defence subsidiary, and Thales have signed an agreement to establish advanced manufacturing capability for 70-mm rocket systems in India.
The partnership is aimed at strengthening India’s domestic defence manufacturing capabilities and supporting the country’s goal of greater self-reliance in defence technology. The first fully assembled rocket produced in India is expected in early 2027.
3. India’s Forex Reserves Reach Record Level
