1. Heatwaves and Lightning Declared Notified Natural Calamities
The Ministry of Home Affairs has included heatwaves and lightning in the list of notified natural calamities under the SDRF and NDRF guidelines for 2026–31. With this move, the number of nationally recognised disaster categories has increased from 12 to 14.
