1. Arvind Panagariya to lead 16th Finance Commission
- The government has appointed former vice-chairman of NITI Aayog and Columbia University professor, Arvind Panagariya, as the chairman of the 16th Finance Commission.
- The 16th Finance Commission has a crucial role in recommending the devolution formulated for tax revenues between the Centre and states.
- Under Panagariya’ s leadership, is expected to submit its report by October 31, 2025, covering a five-year period from April 1, 2026.
