1. Assam CM flags off 200 green buses from Guwahati to curb pollution
- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged off 200 electric buses from Guwahati.
- He termed the initiative as the government’s one of the biggest push towards a pollution-free environment.
- “By 2025, we want to establish Guwahati as the country’s first city to be powered by a 100 per cent green public transportation system.
- This new fleet builds upon the 100 CNG buses dedicated to the New Year,”.

2. Saudi Arabia officially becomes a full member of BRICS group of emerging
- Saudi Arabia has officially become a full member of the BRICS group of emerging economies.
- Riyadh’s membership of the bloc would bolster its image abroad.
- The leaders of the five BRICS nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – approved the group’s expansion in August by adding Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
