India Records 6 fresh JN.1 Variant Cases, tally at 69

India reported 6 fresh cases of JN.1 Covid sub variant during last 24 hrs, taking the total tally of new variant to 69.

ANI quoting sources as said that, As of December 25th, the country has reported 69 cases of the JN.1 COVID variant.

Sources said, with 69 total cases in the country, Karnataka is leading with 34 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 9, Goa with 14, Kerala with 6, Tamil Nadu with 4, and Telangana with 2 cases, sources added.

The first JN.1 case in India was identified in a 79-year-old woman in Kerala.

Since then, several states have witnessed a notable uptick in infections linked to this variant, fueling concerns about its rapid spread.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has designated JN.1 as a “variant of interest” due to its reported propensity for swift transmission.

As authorities work to contain its impact, heightened vigilance and public health measures are being implemented to curb further escalation.

The evolving situation underscores the global challenge in managing emerging COVID variants and emphasizes the need for continued monitoring and response efforts.
