🚦 TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K — JAMMU/SRINAGAR
Traffic Plan & Advisory for 18-01-2026
From 16-01-2026, 1600 hrs to 17-01-2026, 1600 hrs, there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to:
Single-lane traffic at Ballinalla, Dewal, Nashri-Dalwas, and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather,
Breakdown of 03 HMVs on NH-44.
🚗 Passengers/LMV Operators
Advised to prefer journey during daytime on Jammu–Srinagar NHW.
Avoid night travel due to risk of:
shooting stones/landslides,
construction activities between Ramban and Banihal,
possible inconvenience to commuters.
Commuters are also advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion.
🛣️ NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions:
LMVs, Passenger/Private Cars, HPVs and HMVs (Good carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44), viz. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
🚓 SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and road condition:
Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on NH-44.
They will move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
❄️ Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH-244)
Closed for vehicular movement due to fresh snow accumulation.
🛤️ SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after green signal from BRO):
Traffic movement shall be allowed on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari road from Srinagar towards Kargil.
LMVs followed by HMVs (up to 06 tyres) with anti-skid chains allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1100 hrs to 1500 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains to gain more grip on slippery road.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform about cut-off timing.
SFs Convoy from Srinagar towards Kargil shall plan movement so that civil traffic is not disturbed.
🏔️ Mughal Road
Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after green signal from Road Maintenance Agencies – GREF):
LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars with anti-skid chains allowed from both sides between Jammu/Srinagar and Poonch.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Baffliaz) towards Shopian and Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1030 hrs to 1430 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing.
TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will inform concerned about the cut-off timing.
