TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 23-01-2026
NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar)
From 21-01-2026 (1600 hrs) to 22-01-2026 (1600 hrs), slow movement was observed on NH-44 due to:
Single-lane traffic at Banihal, Dewal, Nashri-Dalwas and Marog
Kishtwari Pather
Breakdown of 02 HMVs on NH-44
In view of inclement weather prediction issued by the MeT Department and a spell of snowfall/rainfall for the next few days, people are advised to:
Undertake journey only after confirming road status from TCU Srinagar / Ramban / Jammu
Check the status of roads from J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page
Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer travel on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime.
Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones, landslides and ongoing construction between Ramban and Banihal.
Commuters must follow lane discipline; overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion.
NH-44 (NHW) – Traffic Plan
(Subject to fair weather and better road conditions)
LMVs / Passenger / HPVs / Private Cars / HMVs (Good Carriers)
Allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44
Jammu → Srinagar and vice-versa
TCU Jammu / Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road condition.
SFS Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition.
Security Forces vehicles allowed from both sides on NH-44 (Jammu ↔ Srinagar).
Movement permitted after confirming NHW status from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar – Sinthan – Anantnag (NH-244)
Road closed for vehicular movement due to fresh snow accumulation.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and road condition, after green signal from BRO:
Traffic allowed from Kargil → Srinagar via Sonamarg–Gumri Road
LMVs followed by HMVs (up to 06 tyres) allowed
Anti-skid chains allowed
From Minimarg → Srinagar between 1100 hrs – 1500 hrs
Motorists advised to carry anti-skid chains
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform about cut-off timing.
SFS convoy from Kargil towards Srinagar shall plan movement so that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road
Subject to fair weather and road condition, after green signal from GREF:
LMVs / Passenger / Private Cars with anti-skid chains allowed
Allowed from Srinagar → Poonch
Via Chandimarg (Baffliaz) → Shopian → Herpora
Timing: 1030 hrs to 1430 hrs
No vehicle allowed after cut-off timing
TCU Jammu & TCU Srinagar will inform concerned authorities.
ADVISORY
People are advised to undertake journey only after confirming road status from Traffic Control Units.
