Traffic Plan & Advisory – 17 March 2026
Road Condition
From 15 March 2026 (4:00 PM) to 16 March 2026 (4:00 PM), slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44.
Reason:
Single-lane traffic between Marog and Kishtwari Pather
Breakdown of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs).
Travel Advice
Passenger and LMV operators should travel on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime only.
Night travel should be avoided because of:
Shooting stones and landslides
Road construction between Ramban and Banihal.

Lane discipline
No overtaking
Avoid wrong-lane driving
To prevent traffic congestion.
NH-44 (National Highway)
If weather and road conditions are good:
LMVs, passenger vehicles, HPVs, private cars, and HMVs (goods carriers) will be allowed.
Traffic will move from both sides (Jammu ↔ Srinagar).
TCU Jammu/Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban.
Security Forces Convoy
Security forces vehicles will also move from both sides on NH-44.
Movement allowed after confirming road status from TCU Ramban.
Other Roads
1. Kishtwar – Sinthan – Anantnag (NH-244)
Still closed due to snow accumulation.
2. SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri)
If weather permits, LMVs with anti-skid chains may be allowed.
Traffic may move from Srinagar towards Kargil after permission.
No vehicle allowed after 3:00 PM.
3. Mughal Road
Today: LMVs allowed from both sides after permission.
Tomorrow: LMVs may move from Shopian to Poonch.
Vehicles must have anti-skid chains.
Cut-off timing: 3:00 PM.
Advisory
People should travel only after confirming road status from Traffic Control Units.
