Essential Qualifications :
For Senior Residents (Medical Departments):
MBBS or equivalent qualification included in the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 schedules.
Valid registration with Central/State Medical Council.
MD/MS in the specialty concerned from an MCI-recognized university. Key examples include MD (Anaesthesia), MS (Surgery), MD (Medicine), MD (Psychiatry), MD (Radio-diagnosis), MD (Pathology), MDS (for OHSC/Dental posts), etc.
For Senior Residents (OHSC/Dental):
Recognized dental qualification under the Dentists Act, 1948.
Valid registration with Central/State Dental Council.
MDS in the specialty concerned (Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics).
For Senior Demonstrators (Non-Medical):
Relevant M.Sc./M.A./MPH + Ph.D. in the subject concerned (e.g., Health Economics, Nutrition, Virology, Biochemistry).
For Junior Demonstrators :
M.A./M.Sc. in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, MPH, Health Promotion, Health  Education, Sociology, or Psychology as applicable.
Important : Candidates who have already completed three years of Senior Residency in a particular discipline or have obtained DM/M.Ch. are not eligible.
A valid pass certificate must be in hand on or before 30.06.2026.
Candidates whose results will be declared after 30.06.2026 are NOT eligible

Mode of Payment:Â Online only via Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking through the application portal. Payment through UPI is to be avoided. The fee is non-refundable.
Reservation Criteria :
SC/ST/OBC:Â Caste certificate issued by competent authority must be uploaded. OBC candidates must submit a Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate issued between 01.04.2026 and 11.05.2026 (i.e., valid for financial year 2026-27) in the DoPT prescribed format. An additional declaration in Annexure-II must be submitted at document verification confirming non-creamy layer status.
EWS: Gross annual family income must be below ₹8 lakh for the financial year 2025-26. The family must not possess 5 acres or more of agricultural land, a residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. or more, or a residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in notified municipalities. Income & Asset Certificate (Annexure-III format) must be issued between 01.04.2026 and 11.05.2026 by a competent authority (District Magistrate, Tehsildar, SDO, etc.). SC/ST/OBC candidates are not eligible for EWS reservation.
PwBD :Â Minimum 40% benchmark disability is required for fee exemption and age relaxation. Disability certificate from a government-authorized authority is mandatory. Scribe/Reader facility is available for eligible PwBD candidates (blindness, both-arm locomotor disability, cerebral palsy), subject to advance intimation via the online application. Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of exam is allowed for scribe users.
Selection Process :
The selection process is conducted in two stages for a combined total of 100 marks:
Stage 1 – Computer Based Test (CBT): 75 Marks
Date: 22.05.2026
Duration: 50 minutes
Pattern: 50 objective-type questions × 1.5 marks each = 75 marks
Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer
Syllabus: Based on prescribed educational qualification and professional course content for each post/speciality
Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for General/EWS; 35% for SC/ST/OBC
Stage 2 – Departmental Interview & Assessment: 25 Marks
Date (Expected): 23.06.2026
Based on clinical evaluation, laboratory testing, structured viva, or personal interview as applicable
Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for General/EWS; 35% for SC/ST/OBC
Candidates are shortlisted after CBT in the ratio of 1:3 (three candidates per advertised post), category-wise and department-wise. Eligibility notice will be published on 16.06.2026. Only candidates appearing in the Eligibility Notice will be called for document verification and interview.
Final Merit:Â Aggregate of CBT (75 marks) + Departmental Interview (25 marks) for candidates who qualify both stages separately.
Tie-Breaking (in order):
Fewer wrong answers / less negative marking in CBT
Date of birth (older candidate ranked higher)
Higher aggregate percentage in 10+2
Higher aggregate percentage in Matric/10th standard
Examination Centres:Â Chandigarh (Tricity), Delhi/NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata. City preference is on a first-come-first-served basis and once allotted, cannot be changed.

How to Apply Online ?
Visit the official website: www.pgimer.edu.in and click on the Recruitment link on the Home Page.
Register with mandatory details — name (as per matriculation), date of birth, mobile number, and email ID. Registration details cannot be changed once submitted.
Log in using the User ID and password sent to your registered email and mobile number.
Fill the Online Application Form section-by-section carefully. All entries are final on submission.
Upload mandatory documents — educational certificates (from Matric onwards with mark sheets), MCI/DCI registration certificate, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD), NOC from present employer (if applicable), and passport-size photograph.
Pay the application fee online via Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking.
Take a printout of the final application form and e-Challan for future reference.
Photograph Instructions :
Clear passport-size colour photograph with light background in JPEG format, size 50-80 KB.
Must be taken on or after 01.03.2026.
Candidate’s name and date of photograph must be written clearly on the photo.
No cap or goggles; spectacles are permitted.
Photo must be unattested on the application form.
Important :
A candidate can apply for one department only.
Applying for more than one department will result in rejection of all applications.
No change in category or department is permitted after submission.
Duplicate applications will be summarily rejected.
