A total of 60 vacancies have been announced across three cadres – General, DEPR, and DSIM. Vacancies are distributed across GEN/UR, EWS, OBC, SC, and ST categories.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on April 01, 2026. Nationality conditions apply – the post is open to citizens of India and certain other categories as specified in the notification, subject to eligibility certificate from the Government of India where required.

The educational qualification must be from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature, or an institution declared Deemed University under UGC Act, 1956, or an equivalent foreign university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.

Educational Qualification

Post Minimum Educational Qualifications (as on April 01, 2026)
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – General Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD if posts reserved for them) OR Post-Graduation with minimum 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD if posts reserved for them) in aggregate of all semesters/years.
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPR Essential: MA/MSc in Economics or related Economics/Finance disciplines with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD if posts reserved) from a recognized Indian or Foreign University. Desirable: Doctorate in Economics, or research/teaching experience, or publication in standard journals.
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM Essential: Master’s Degree with minimum 55% marks in Statistics/Mathematics/Data Science/AI/ML or related fields OR Four-year Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 60% marks in the above fields (50% for SC/ST/PwBD if posts reserved). Desirable: Doctorate in related subjects; research/teaching experience and publications.

 

Age Limit :

Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as on April 01, 2026 (born not earlier than April 02, 1996 and not later than April 01, 2005). The upper age limit is relaxed for various categories as detailed below.

General/EWS candidates who have already appeared six times for Phase-I Examination for this post in the past are not eligible to apply. No such restriction applies to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates if posts are reserved for them.

Application Fee :

Candidates applying for the post of Officers in Grade ‘B’ are required to pay a non-refundable fee/intimation charges as specified below. The fee must be paid online through the RBI application portal. Fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances nor held in reserve for any other examination or selection.

Candidates submitting applications without the prescribed fee/intimation charges will be summarily rejected. Candidates are therefore advised to confirm their eligibility and verify all details before making payment.

Selection Process

The selection process for RBI Grade B Recruitment 2026 consists of Phase-I Online Examination, Phase-II Online/Written Examination, and Interview. Candidates who qualify Phase-I will be shortlisted for Phase-II based on aggregate marks. Only those who clear Phase-II will be called for the Interview.

No candidate will be called for the Interview unless he/she appears in Phase-II examination. The final merit list will be prepared by adding marks secured in Phase-II and Interview (and grace marks as applicable). If a candidate remains absent in the Interview, his/her candidature will not be considered for final selection.

The selection list recommended by the Board remains valid for the period as decided by the Board/Bank.

Exam Syllabus :

Phase-I – General Cadre (200 Marks, Objective MCQ, 120 Minutes)

The paper covers General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning. Separate time will be allotted for each section. Detailed information will be provided in the Information Handout available with the Admit Card.

Phase-II – General Cadre

Paper-I (Economic and Social Issues): Growth and Development (National Income, poverty alleviation, sustainable development); Indian Economy (economic history, monetary and fiscal policy since 1991, Indian money and financial markets, public finance, agriculture, services sector); Globalization (BoP, export-import policy, IMF, World Bank, WTO); Social Structure in India (multiculturalism, demographic trends, urbanization, gender issues, social justice).

Paper-II (English – Writing Skills): Writing skills including expression and understanding of the topic.

Paper-III (General Finance and Management): Financial system (structure of financial institutions, RBI functions, banking system, digital payments); Financial markets (primary and secondary markets); General topics (financial risk management, derivatives, financial inclusion, corporate governance, Union Budget, accounting basics, inflation); Management (fundamentals, organizational behaviour, motivation, leadership, ethics, corporate governance, communication).

Phase-I – DEPR Cadre (Paper-I, Objective – Economics)

Microeconomics, Macroeconomics (IS-LM Model, schools of economic thought), International Economics, Theories of Economic Growth and Development, Public Finance, Environmental Economics, Quantitative Methods in Economics, Current developments in Indian Economy.

Phase-II – DEPR Cadre (Descriptive – Economics)

Paper-I covers Microeconomics Module (consumer theory, production theory, market theory, welfare economics) and Macroeconomics Module (national income accounting, employment and output, inflation, money and banking, growth theories, international trade, public finance) with equal weightage. Paper-II covers Quantitative Methods in Economics (mathematical methods, statistical methods, econometrics) and Indian Economy – Policy and Trends (fiscal policy, monetary policy, banking sector, inflation, external sector, sectoral developments) with equal weightage.

How to Apply for RBI Grade B Officer Recruitment 2026

Applications must be submitted online only through the Bank’s website www.rbi.org.in. No other means/mode of application will be accepted. The online portal will be active from 29-04-2026 to 20-05-2026 (6:00 PM). Candidates desirous of applying for both Grade ‘B’ (DR)-General and Grade ‘B’ (DR)-DEPR or DSIM must apply using separate links and pay fees for both. Digi Locker has been integrated with the online application form for voluntary submission of credentials.

Candidates should avoid submitting multiple applications; if done unavoidably, only the application with the higher Registration ID (RID) will be considered valid, and fee paid against other RIDs will not be adjusted. After the closing date, a 2-day edit window will be available for making corrections in limited fields. Candidates are not required to upload supporting documents at the time of online application; documents will be verified at the Interview stage only.

Candidates working in Government/PSU/Public Enterprises must inform their employer in writing before applying and submit an undertaking to this effect at the time of online application. At the time of joining, proper discharge certificates from their employer must be produced.

Phase-I paper (General Cadre) will be set in English; all other papers (except English papers) will be set bilingually in Hindi and English.
