Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) has invited applications for temporary contractual positions of Young Professionals under the National Soil Mapping Programme (NSMP), operational in the Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-Jammu.

Number of Posts: 1
Monthly Emoluments: ₹42,000 consolidated
Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in any of the following or an equivalent discipline:

Experience: At least one year of experience in a soil laboratory or soil-based project involving soil analysis, excluding experience gained as part of a degree programme.

Number of Posts: 3
Monthly Emoluments: ₹30,000 consolidated
Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Soil Science/Agricultural Chemistry, Agronomy, Agricultural Biochemistry/Biochemistry, Soil/Agricultural Microbiology/Microbiology, Crop/Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Environmental Science or an equivalent discipline.
Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and must have experience in analysing soil, plant, water or environmental samples in a laboratory.

Interview Mode: Eligible candidates are required to attend the interview in person.
TA/DA: No travelling or daily allowance will be paid for attending the interview.

Application Form Details
The prescribed application form requires candidates to provide personal information including name, parentage, date of birth, age, sex, marital status, address, email and mobile number.
Applicants must also provide details regarding NET/GATE qualification, academic qualifications, professional experience, research articles, books/book chapters/publications and conferences, symposiums or workshops attended/presented.
All photocopies of documents must be self-attested, and claims made in the application must be supported by documentary evidence. No marks will be awarded for claims where supporting documents are not submitted with the application.
Terms and Conditions
The appointments are purely ad hoc, temporary and contractual. The initial engagement will be for six months, with the possibility of extension depending on satisfactory performance and availability of project funds.
The appointment will not provide any legal right to claim regularization or permanent appointment in SKUAST-Jammu or the funding agency. The engagement will end automatically upon completion/termination of the project or if the candidate’s performance is found unsatisfactory.
Candidates must produce their original documents at the time of interview. The University/Funding Agency also reserves the right to withdraw the advertised post at any stage. Candidates are advised to regularly check the SKUAST-Jammu website for any changes to the interview schedule, as no separate advertisement will be issued for such changes.
Important Note
The project work involves long outdoor surveys across different districts of the Jammu Division for sample collection and soil profile studies. Only experience relevant to the specified desired experience will be considered for awarding experience marks.
