Traffic Advisory
From 13-09-2026, 1600 hrs to 14-09-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to heavy rain, underriding and uneven surface of the road at Dawalt, Udhampur, as well as the single-lane stretch between Marog and Kishtwar Pather. In addition, the breakdown of a vehicle at Nachniana and the movement of nomadic herds created further congestion.
Owing to the ongoing movement of nomadic herds, particularly on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwar Pather, traffic flow is expected to remain slow. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Jammu/Ramban. Commuters should also check the status of roads with the Traffic Police Twitter/X handle before starting their journey.
Traffic was managed in a regulated manner at Dawalt, Udhampur on NH-44, due to a single lane for about 30–40 minutes.
Advisory for Passengers and LMV Operators
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer travelling on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime.
Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads from the Valley, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

In view of widening works being undertaken by NHAI on Digdo-Digdol Halan/axis on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, movement of Kashmir-bound oil and gas tankers shall remain restricted on this section during daytime from 0700 hrs to 1500 hrs.
The movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through the highway. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience and ensure safety.
Goods Carrier Advisory
Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh/perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per the advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time.
They should also be aware of the possibility of shooting stones/landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
HMV Operators
HMV operators are requested to avoid overloading and carry sufficient fuel during their journey on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Vehicle owners/drivers must also check the brakes of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking the journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 15-09-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars and other light vehicles) shall be allowed to ply from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline. Overtaking and wrong-lane driving may cause congestion.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the prevailing road condition.
Army/SF Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa.
The convoys shall move only after confirming the status of the NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per orders issued by the DC Kishtwar vide No. DCK/2026/4252-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars only) shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Sinthan and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PDP Puroja towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1800 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar will inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Traffic/2026/432-4110 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
Vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Kargil towards Srinagar only after receiving a green signal from the road maintenance agency, subject to road conditions.
During the maintenance period, vehicles may be restricted depending on the condition of the road.
Commuters are advised to carry sufficient fuel and ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before undertaking the journey.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timing.
Vehicles carrying heavy loads should plan their movement in such a manner that traffic is not disrupted.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREFA), vehicular movement of LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
Vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Poonch) towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timing.
As per the order issued by the District Magistrate Shopian, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
GENERAL ADVISORY
People are advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from the concerned Traffic Control Units.
