Eligibility Criteria 2026
Eligibility for RSP Apprentice  Recruitment 2026 requires candidates to have passed their qualifying exam as a regular candidate within the last five years, and to have no prior apprenticeship or one-year work experience. These conditions apply uniformly across Trade, Diploma, and Degree categories.
Only candidates who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates are eligible.
Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in the last five years – 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026.
Cantonment Board Jammu Recruitment 2026
Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying exam but whose results are not declared as on the last date of application are not eligible.
Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training at any establishment, or who have one year or more of  job experience, are not eligible.
Age Limit
The RSP Apprentice age limit is minimum 18 years and maximum 28 years as on 31 August 2026. Reservation and age relaxation will be applied as per the guidelines of the Government of Odisha.
Application Fee :
The notification does not mention any application fee for RSP Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27. Candidates only need to complete online registration on the applicable  government portal before the last date.
Registration Requirements Before Applying
Before filling the online application, RSP Apprentice candidates must first create an account on the correct government portal based on their category, and ensure their contact and banking details meet DBT requirements.
Trade Apprentices (ITI): Register at apprenticeshipindia.org.
Graduate/Technician Apprentices (Diploma & Degree): Register on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal at nats.education.gov.in.
Candidates must have an active email ID and mobile number valid for at least the next one year, since all future communication happens only through email.
The bank account must be DBT-enabled with KYC verified, and candidates must verify the correctness of all information before final submission.
After successful online registration, candidates must take a printout of the filled application for future reference.
How to Apply for RSP Apprentice Recruitment 2026 (Apply Online)
The RSP Apprentice apply online process differs slightly for ITI trade candidates and Diploma/Degree candidates, but both require completing portal registration before attending the walk-in. Applications will not be accepted without prior online registration and apply action on the respective portal.
For Trade (ITI) Apprentices
- Register as a candidate on apprenticeshipindia.org.
- Log in to the home page of the apprenticeship portal as a candidate.
- Go to Apprenticeship Opportunity and search by Establishment Name: SAIL ROURKELA STEEL PLANT.
- Click apply for the prescribed trade against the vacancies appearing on the portal.
For Degree/Diploma Apprentices
- Register as a student on nats.education.gov.in.
- Log in to the NATS portal home page as a candidate.
- Go to Establishments Requests, then click Find Establishments.
- Select Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant and apply in your passed-out branch of engineering.
- After applying successfully on the portal, attend the walk-in as per the schedule for your trade/branch.
Walk-In Venue
All shortlisted RSP Apprentice candidates must report in person at the same venue in Rourkela for document verification, regardless of trade or discipline, on their scheduled date.

Candidates attending the RSP Apprentice walk-in must carry both original and self-attested documents for verification, along with a mandatory medical fitness certificate.

Selection Process :
Selection for RSP Apprentice  Recruitment 2026 is merit-based rather than exam-based, calculated through a weighted formula applied during the walk-in shortlisting process.
Selection depends on vacancies available in each category and discipline.
Candidates are shortlisted on academic merit through the walk-in process using a weighted formula: 30% weightage to Class X marks and 70% weightage to Degree/Diploma/ITI examination marks, as applicable.
Marks must be mentioned in percentage; candidates with a CGPA must convert it to percentage as per their board/university norms, which will be verified during document verification.
Engagement is subject to the candidate being declared medically fit as per the Apprentices Act, 1961, with the certificate issued by a Government doctor bearing a medical registration number.
RSP Apprentice Stipend/Salary 2026
The RSP Apprentice stipend varies by category and, for engineering Diploma/Degree apprentices, is shared between RSP and the Basic Off-Roll Training Provider (BOPT) under DBT mode.

Stipend for Trade Apprentices is as per rates prescribed by MSDE, GoI. For Graduate/Technician (Diploma & Degree) Apprentices, 50% of the stipend is paid by RSP and 50% by BOPT under DBT mode, or as per prescribed MSDE rates. The training duration is one year. RSP will not provide accommodation or travel allowance to apprentices during training.
Important Instructions for RSP Apprentice Applicants
Fill correct details in all fields and upload scanned copies of all mandatory documents.
Marks in the qualifying exam must be mentioned in percentage; CGPA holders must convert to percentage as per their board/university norms.
Incomplete or erroneous applications submitted after the last date will be rejected, with no further communication entertained.
Canvassing of any kind will disqualify the candidate.

Common Mistakes to Avoid While Applying for RSP Apprentice 2026
A number of otherwise-eligible candidates get rejected at the RSP apprentice walk-in due to procedural errors rather than genuine ineligibility. Knowing these common mistakes in advance can help candidates avoid last-minute disqualification.
Registering on the wrong portal:Â ITI trade candidates must use apprenticeshipindia.org, while Diploma/Degree candidates must use the NATS portal – using the wrong one means the application won’t reach RSP’s vacancy listing at all.
Skipping the online step before the walk-in:Â The notification is explicit that applications will not be accepted without prior online registration and apply action; simply showing up at the walk-in without portal registration is not sufficient.
Reporting on the wrong date:Â Since the walk-in schedule is trade/branch-specific and spans nearly a month, candidates should double-check their exact discipline’s reporting window rather than assuming a single common date.
Carrying an unconverted CGPA:Â Candidates from CGPA-based boards must convert to percentage using their own board/university norms before filling the form, since RSP will verify this conversion at document verification.

Missing e-KYC on Aadhaar-linked  bank account: Since the bank account must be DBT-enabled with KYC verified, candidates should confirm this well before the last date rather than discovering an issue during document verification.
