ESIC proposes to fill a total of 118 Professor posts in various specialties with category‑wise breakup as given below. Reserved vacancies include backlog vacancies of 11 SC6 ST and 23 OBC posts, and 8 posts are reserved for PwBD under categories (a), (b), (c) and (d & e) as per DoPT guidelines.

Out of the total, 8 posts are reserved for PwBD across categories (a) – blindness and low vision, (b) – deaf and hard of hearing, (c) – locomotor disability and related conditions, and (d & e) – autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates must ensure that they satisfy all eligibility conditions relating to nationality, age, educational qualifications and teaching experience as of the closing date of receipt of applications

Criteria Details
Nationality / Citizenship Candidate must be a citizen of India; certain categories of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees and PIO from specified countries may also apply, subject to Government of India eligibility certificate.
Age Limit (UR / EWS) Not exceeding 50 years for Professor as on closing date of applications (27.07.2026 for most candidates).
Age Relaxation Up to 5 years for ESIC / Government servants; 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC; 10 years for PwBD (with cumulative maximum as per rules); additional relaxations for Ex‑Servicemen as per Government orders.
Educational Qualification – Medical Candidates
  • A recognised medical qualification included in First or Second Schedule or Part‑II of Third Schedule to IMC Act 1956, fulfilling Section 13(3) conditions where applicable.
  • Postgraduate qualification – MD/MS or equivalent in the concerned subject or allied discipline.
Educational Qualification – Non‑Medical Candidates Postgraduate degree (Master’s) in concerned subject/allied discipline and a Doctorate degree (PhD) from a recognised University in the respective subject/allied discipline, as per MCI/NMC “Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations”.
Teaching Experience
  • Four years’ teaching experience as Reader/Associate Professor in a recognised medical college in the concerned specialty; OR
  • Three years’ teaching experience as Associate Professor in the concerned specialty, with at least four research publications in indexed/national journals as first author, of which minimum two are during Associate Professor tenure.
Experience Recognition Teaching experience must be recognised by Medical Council of India/National Medical Commission or relevant statutory body; experience as General Duty Medical Officer is not counted.
PwBD Eligibility Only persons with minimum 40% benchmark disability in notified categories are eligible for PwBD reservation and age relaxation; only disabilities identified as suitable for each specialty as per the notification will be considered.

 Pay Scale & Emoluments :

Selected candidates will be appointed in Pay Level‑13 of the 7th CPC pay matrix with Non‑Practicing Allowance and other admissible benefits.

Basic Pay: Level‑13 (Rs. 1,23,100 – 2,15,900) in the pay matrix.

Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), Non‑Practicing Allowance (NPA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance and other allowances as per Central Government/ESIC rules.

Application fee is payable via Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque only, in favour of “ESI Fund Account No. 2” payable at Delhi.

Fee once paid will not be refunded in any circumstances and applications without the prescribed fee (where applicable) will be rejected without correspondence.

 

Selection Process :

Selection will be made on the basis of an Interview conducted by the ESIC Selection Board, with possible shortlisting based on experience.

If the number of applications is large, ESIC may shortlist candidates for interview based on teaching experience beyond the minimum required level (Associate Professor/Reader or above) as per Recruitment Rules.

Category‑wise minimum qualifying marks in interview: UR/EWS – 50OBC – 45SC/ST/PwBD – 40 out of 100 marks.

Tie‑breaking: older candidate by age is preferred; if still tied, earlier date of passing essential PG degree; if still tied, earlier date of completion of internship is considered.

A Reserve List may be maintained as per UPSC‑like provisions.

 

Age Relaxation & Reservation Notes :

ESIC follows Government of India rules on age relaxation, community reservation and PwBD concessions.

SC/ST – up to 5 years; OBC – up to 3 years; PwBD – up to 10 years (maximum age on closing date not exceeding 56 years), with cumulative relaxation for SC/ST/OBC PwBD as per norms.

Ex‑Servicemen and ECOs/SSCOs – age relaxation up to 5 years subject to conditions on length of service and release certificates.

Only candidates belonging to castes/communities in the Central List of SC/ST/OBC and having valid, current certificates in the prescribed format will get reservation benefits; multiple applications in different categories will lead to rejection.

How to Apply ?

Applications must be submitted offline only in the prescribed application form attached with the notification. No online application facility is available for this recruitment.

Step‑by‑Step Offline Application Process:

  1. Download and print the official notification and Application Form for “Professor in ESI Corporation‑2026” from ESIC website or your job portal.
  2. Fill the application form in BLOCK letters with accurate details such as specialty applied for, personal information, educational qualifications, teaching experience, registration details and publication list.
  3. Prepare a Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque of Rs. 500/- (if applicable) in favour of “ESI Fund Account No. 2”, payable at Delhi, issued after the date of advertisement.
  4. Attach self‑attested copies of required documents (educational certificates, experience certificates, caste/EWS/PwBD certificates, proof of age, research publications, etc.) as per the checklist.
  5. Affix a recent self‑attested passport size photograph in the space provided on the application form.
  6. Place the filled and signed application form along with DD/Banker’s Cheque and enclosures in an envelope superscribed “Application for the post of Professor for Medical Institutions”.
  7. Send the application preferably by Speed Post to the address given below so as to reach on or before 27.07.2026 (03.08.2026 for specified remote areas).

Documents Required with ESIC Professor Application

Candidates must attach self‑attested copies of all relevant documents along with the application form.

Original Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque pinned on top of the application form with candidate’s name and address written on the reverse.

Recent passport size photograph (self‑attested) firmly pasted on the application form.

Matriculation/10th certificate or mark sheet indicating Date of Birth; in some cases, school leaving certificate for TN & Kerala.

Degree certificates and mark sheets of all academic years (MBBS, PG, PhD etc.); provisional certificates accepted if final degree is awaited.

Experience certificates from Heads of Organisations clearly mentioning post, period, pay and nature of duties, and specifying recognition as teaching experience by MCI/NMC or relevant body.

Certificates/testimonials supporting research publications and academic achievements.

Category certificates: SC/ST/OBC/EWS in prescribed Central Government format; OBC non‑creamy layer declaration; EWS Income & Asset certificate.

PwBD certificate in prescribed format for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.

Documents for age relaxation (Ex‑Servicemen, Central/UT Govt employees etc.) in the prescribed formats.

Any other supporting documents for claims made in the application (name change, etc.).

 

Important Instructions for ESIC Professor Applicants

Eligibility (age, qualifications, experience etc.) is calculated with reference to the closing date of applications – 27.07.2026 for most candidates.

Mere submission of application or call for interview does not confer any right to appointment; candidature remains provisional until verification.

Incomplete/unsigned applications, or those not in prescribed proforma, without required documents, fee, or received after the last date will be rejected without communication.

Any false statement or suppression of material information can lead to cancellation of candidature/appointment at any stage.

Selected candidates will be on probation as per ESIC rules and are liable to be posted anywhere in India; state preferences are only indicative and not binding.
