Teaching Positions

The Central University of Jammu (CUJ) has issued Employment Notification No. 32 (For Teaching Posts) inviting online applications from eligible Indian Citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) for appointment to a teaching position through direct recruitment. The recruitment notification is dated 21 August 2026.

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) will be considered for horizontal reservation wherever suitable positions are available, in accordance with Government reservation guidelines.

Candidates are advised to complete their applications well before the deadline rather than waiting until the last date.

Application Fee

The prescribed application fee is ₹1,000.

However, candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwBD categories are exempted from payment of the application fee. The application form must be submitted online along with the applicable fee within the prescribed deadline.

Eligibility and Qualification

The minimum eligibility requirements for teaching positions are governed by the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and Other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education, 2018, as amended from time to time.

The University reserves the right to prescribe higher eligibility standards wherever considered necessary.

For the position of Professor, a Ph.D. degree is mandatory as per the notification.

The notification also specifies that a minimum of 55% marks, or an equivalent grade, at the Master’s level is an essential qualification for direct recruitment of teachers and equivalent cadres, subject to applicable UGC relaxations.

Reservation

Reservation benefits for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwBD and EWS candidates will be provided in accordance with applicable UGC and Government of India policies.

Candidates claiming reservation benefits must upload valid and recently issued certificates in the prescribed format.

PwBD candidates must have at least 40% of the relevant disability to be eligible for the applicable reservation benefit, subject to Government rules.

Important Application Requirements

Candidates are required to upload all necessary supporting documents after self-attestation. Applicants should therefore keep scanned PDF copies of their educational qualifications, experience certificates, category certificates and other relevant documents ready before starting the online application.

Publications are not required to be self-attested.

Candidates who have obtained their PG or Ph.D. qualification from a foreign university must submit an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. Without the required equivalence certificate, the candidature may be rejected.

Screening and Shortlisting

Possessing the minimum prescribed qualification does not automatically guarantee an interview call.

Applications will be screened according to the approved UGC and Central University of Jammu criteria. The University also reserves the right to conduct a written test or another appropriate method for shortlisting candidates.

The Screening Committee may restrict the number of candidates called for interview to:

10 additional candidates for every subsequent vacancy

The candidates will be shortlisted according to their ranking under the approved screening criteria.

Documents Required at Interview

Candidates called for interview must produce their original documents, along with one complete set of duly signed photocopies.

Candidates already working with a Government, Semi-Government, PSU or Autonomous Organisation must apply through the proper channel and produce the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) and Vigilance Clearance Certificate before appearing for the interview.

Experience Requirements

Experience gained in accredited research organisations or academic institutions may be counted subject to the conditions prescribed by the University. In particular, the notification specifies requirements concerning the gross emoluments drawn by candidates working in such organisations.

Candidates claiming such experience must provide the required last-pay-drawn certificate or relevant documentary proof.

Appointment and Service Conditions

Selected candidates will be appointed under a written contract and will be placed on probation for one year, which may be extended.

The age of superannuation for teaching positions will be governed by applicable UGC/Government of India norms. All appointees, including in-service candidates, will be governed by the National Pension System (NPS) of the Government of India.

The selected candidate may also be required to undertake teaching, research or other academic assignments in departments, institutes or centres other than the department mentioned in the advertisement, according to the University’s requirements.

Important Conditions

Incomplete applications or applications without required supporting documents may be rejected.

Candidates must ensure that all claims made in the application are supported by valid documents.

Original documents will be verified during the recruitment process.

Appointment will be subject to document, police and applicable caste-certificate verification.

False, fabricated or tampered documents can result in cancellation of candidature and further legal action.

Candidates applying for more than one position, where applicable, must submit separate online applications along with the prescribed documents and fee.

No TA/DA will ordinarily be paid for attending the interview. SC/ST/PwBD candidates may receive second-class railway/bus fare by the shortest route as per Government rules.

The University reserves the right to increase, decrease, withdraw or not fill the advertised vacancy.

Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.

Eligible candidates are required to submit their applications online through the Central University of Jammu website. The online application portal will open on 25 August 2026 at 10:00 AM and applications must be completed by 11 September 2026 at 11:59 PM.
