Senior Resident/Registrar Posts
Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri has invited applications from eligible doctors for engagement as Senior Resident/Registrar in various disciplines on a purely Academic Arrangement basis. The recruitment has been announced through Advertisement Notice No. 05 GMCR (ADM) of 2026, dated 08 September 2026.
Overview
Eligible PSC and Non-PSC doctors who are permanent residents/domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir can apply for the advertised positions.
The engagement will initially be made for a period of one year, which may be extended up to a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory performance and applicable rules.

Eligibility and Selection
The selection will be made in accordance with the latest criteria, methods and guidelines issued by the Administrative Department, Health & Medical Education, J&K, along with the latest Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) dated 30 June 2025.
The eligibility and selection criteria for Senior Resident/Registrar positions will be governed by Government Order No. 383-JK (HME) of 2024 dated 20 June 2024.

Interested candidates are specifically advised to submit their applications before the deadline, as incomplete applications will be rejected without further communication.
Salary and Conditions for PSC/In-Service Candidates
For PSC/in-service doctors, the salary will be paid as per their Last Pay Certificate (LPC).
In-service candidates can participate in the selection process only after obtaining the required permission from the Administrative Department and must route their applications through the concerned Administrative Department, as per the applicable guidelines.
If selected, an in-service candidate will be permitted to join only after being properly relieved by the concerned Administrative Department.
Salary and Conditions for Non-PSC Candidates
Doctors who are not in Government Service will be engaged on a consolidated pay corresponding to the revised basic pay applicable to the minimum of the pre-revised Medical Officer scale in the Health Department under SRO-193 dated 24 April 2018, along with applicable Dearness Allowance (DA).
Eligible appointees will also receive House Rent Allowance (HRA) as applicable to in-service candidates carrying the minimum of the relevant pre-revised pay scale, subject to fulfilment of the prescribed conditions.
No other monetary benefits will be admissible.
Documents Required
Applicants must attach self-attested copies of the required documents with their application form. These include:
Two recent passport-size photographs.
Date of Birth certificate, such as a 10th Diploma/Mark Sheet or other valid document.
MBBS degree and marks sheets of all professional examinations.
Marks sheets of all terms of MD/MS/DNB/MCh/DM or other relevant higher qualification in the respective specialty, wherever applicable.
Attempt certificates for 1st, 2nd, Pre-Final and Final MBBS examinations issued by the concerned university.
MCI/NMC or State Medical Council Registration Certificate.
Internship Completion Certificate.
Certificate relating to distinction, national scholarship, honours, medals or academic merit, if applicable.
House Job certificate issued by the concerned Principal or equivalent authority.
FMGE certificate, wherever applicable for candidates holding an MBBS degree from outside India.
Details/copies of professional publications in standard medical journals, if any.
Affidavit duly attested by a 1st Class Magistrate confirming that the candidate has neither completed, is currently doing, nor has left any Registrarship/Senior Residency/Demonstratorship midway in any discipline within or outside the J&K UT.
NOC from the Administrative Department, Health & Medical Education, in case of in-service PSC candidates.
Important Terms and Conditions
The decision of the Selection Committee constituted pursuant to the relevant Government Order will be final and binding.
The maximum tenure of a Senior Resident/Registrar will be three years, and no extension beyond the prescribed tenure will be granted.
The candidature of selected candidates will remain provisional until the authenticity of their educational qualifications and documents is verified from the concerned issuing authorities.
If any document or information submitted by a candidate is found to be false, incorrect or unsupported at any stage, the candidature may be cancelled and appropriate legal action may be initiated.
The selected candidate will also have to submit an affidavit, duly attested by a Judicial Magistrate, at the time of joining. The affidavit will confirm that the candidate will not leave the residency midway and will serve for the entire tenure period.
The appointment will be purely on a tenure basis and will not provide any preferential or automatic right to regular appointment.
Candidates who have already completed, are currently pursuing, or have left Registrarship/Senior Residency midway in any discipline are not eligible to apply.
A doctor intending to leave the engagement will have to provide one month’s prior notice, duly forwarded by the concerned Head of Department. Failure to provide the required notice may require the doctor to deposit one month’s salary with the institution.
Important Note for Applicants
The vacancies have been advertised against posts that are vacant or likely to become vacant. However, GMC Rajouri reserves the right to withdraw, modify, alter or decide not to fill any or all advertised vacancies at any stage of the selection process without issuing another notification.
The recruitment notice has been issued with the prior approval of the Competent Authority and is without prejudice to any writ petition pending before any competent court.
Incomplete application forms will be rejected without any further communication.
