Advertisement for Senior Residents / Demonstrators
Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar has invited online applications from eligible candidates domiciled in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir for engagement against tenure positions of Senior Residents/Demonstrators in various disciplines.
The applicants must possess the prescribed academic/professional qualifications and meet the applicable age requirements.
Candidates who are not in-service shall be engaged under S.O. 364 of 2020 dated 27-11-2020 on Academic Arrangement Basis and in accordance with Government Order No. 383-JK (HME) of 2024 dated 20-06-2024.
For in-service candidates, applications shall be entertained only after fulfilment of all prescribed requirements under the relevant rules and production of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the parent department as required under Circular No. 03-HME of 2019 dated 27-05-2019.
The selected candidates shall initially be engaged for one year, extendable up to a maximum period of three years, subject to satisfactory performance certified by the concerned Head of Department after completion of each year.

Qualification
Candidates must possess:
MD/MS/DNB from an institution duly recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) in the concerned discipline.
12. Pediatric Biochemistry
For Medical Persons – Senior Resident
MD/DNB in Biochemistry from an institution duly recognized by the NMC.
For Non-Medical Persons – Demonstrator
Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Medical Biochemistry along with Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Biochemistry from a duly recognized institution.
13. Cardiology
Candidates must possess any of the following:
D.M./DNB/DrNB in Cardiology from an institution duly recognized by the NMC; OR

Candidates must possess any one of the following:
D.M./DNB/DrNB in Medical Oncology from an institution duly recognized by the NMC; OR
MD/DNB in General Medicine from an institution duly recognized by the NMC; OR
MD/DNB in Paediatrics from an institution duly recognized by the NMC; OR
MD/DNB in Radiation Oncology from an institution duly recognized by the NMC.

Candidates must possess:
D.M./DNB/DrNB in Nephrology from an institution duly recognized by the NMC; OR
MD/DNB in Medicine from an institution duly recognized by the NMC.
19. Neurosurgery

M.Ch./DNB/DrNB in Surgical Gastroenterology from an institution duly recognized by the NMC; OR

Important Eligibility Note
Candidates who have appeared in the Final Examination of the Postgraduate/Postdoctoral Course in the relevant discipline are also eligible to apply.

Important Application Instructions
The candidate’s name, parentage and date of birth must be entered strictly as per the Matriculation Certificate.
Candidates should submit their applications well before the closing date.
Applicants should not wait until the last date because heavy website traffic may cause difficulty in logging in or submitting the application.
All fields must be filled carefully after reading the terms and conditions.
Once submitted, requests for correction/change in application particulars will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Applications containing blurred or illegible photographs/signatures will be rejected.
Any fake/fabricated application or registration by misusing the name/photo of any dignitary may result in legal action under the applicable Cyber/IT Act and relevant rules.

Submission of Application Form
After successful submission, the application will be treated as provisional.
Candidates must:
Take a coloured printout of the submitted application form.
Keep the printout safely.
Submit the hard copy along with photocopies of all uploaded certificates to the Office of Registrar Academics, Government Medical College, Srinagar, whenever directed to do so.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates shall be made on the basis of their performance in an:
MCQ-Based Written Test
The written-test-based selection shall be conducted as prescribed under Government Order No. 383-JK (HME) of 2024 dated 20-06-2024.
Conditions for In-Service Candidates
For candidates already in government service:
The in-service doctor shall be paid salary as per their Last Pay Certificate (LPC).
Applicants working under the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir/Jammu must submit their application along with an NOC from their parent department.
Without the required NOC, the application shall not be entertained.
The requirement is as per Circular No. 03-HME of 2019 dated 27-05-2019.
Conditions for Not-In-Service Candidates
Candidates who are not in government service shall be engaged on Academic Arrangement Basis.
Such candidates shall be paid stipend in accordance with S.O. 364 of 2020 dated 27-11-2020.
Documents Required
Candidates are required to submit self-attested copies of the following documents:
MBBS marks sheets of all phases and qualification certificate.
MD/MS/DNB/M.Ch./DM qualification/degree certificate in the respective specialty for medical candidates.
M.Sc. Medical Biochemistry qualification/degree certificate for non-medical candidates.
Ph.D. Medical Biochemistry qualification/degree/marks certificate for non-medical candidates.
Internship Certificate.
Date of Birth Certificate.
NMC/Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council Registration Certificate.
Domicile Certificate.
No Objection Certificate (NOC) – for in-service candidates only.
Experience Certificate, where applicable, for candidates who have already completed Registrarship/Senior Residency/Demonstratorship/Tutorship.
Required Affidavit(s).
Maximum Tenure
As per Government Order No. 383-JK (HME) of 2024 dated 20-06-2024, the maximum tenure of:
Registrarship
Senior Residency
Demonstratorship
Tutorship
is three years.
Candidates who have already completed three years of Registrarship/Senior Residency/Demonstratorship/Tutorship are not eligible to apply against the notified positions.
However, candidates who have completed 30 months or less of Senior Registrarship/Senior Residency/Demonstratorship/Tutorship may apply for the remaining period so as to complete the maximum three-year tenure.
Affidavit Requirements
Candidates are required to submit an affidavit duly attested by a Judicial Magistrate stating, as applicable, that:
For Fresh Applicants
They have not previously completed Registrarship/Demonstratorship/Senior Residency within or outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
For Candidates With Previous Experience
They must mention the number of months of Residency/Demonstratorship/Tutorship already completed in the concerned institution/medical college, where they have completed 30 months or less.
Other Declarations
The affidavit must also confirm that:
The candidate is not involved in any criminal activity.
No FIR is pending or registered against the candidate in any criminal department/police station.
All information provided in the application is true and correct.
Nothing material has been concealed.
Candidates who have already completed their tenure as Registrar/Demonstrator/Senior Resident/Tutor in the discipline for which they are applying cannot apply, and their applications shall not be considered.
Separate Application for Each Specialty
A candidate must submit a separate application form for each post/specialty applied for.
The prescribed application fee must also be deposited separately for each specialty.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for appointment as Senior Resident in broad specialties is 45 years.
For the subjects of:
Anatomy
Biochemistry
the upper age limit is 50 years as on the cutoff date mentioned in the advertisement.
The age limit applies to both in-service and not-in-service candidates.
Cancellation of Selection
If any declaration made by a candidate is subsequently found to be false, or if the candidate deliberately suppresses any material information relevant to the appointment:
Their selection shall be cancelled ab-initio.
They shall be liable for action as warranted under the applicable rules.
Waiting List
A waiting list shall be prepared and shall remain valid for three months from the date of issuance of the selection list.
Termination of Academic Arrangement
In accordance with S.O. 364 of 2020 dated 27-11-2020, an appointment made on Academic Arrangement Basis may be terminated by either side by:
Serving one month’s prior notice, or
Payment of one month’s salary by the appointing authority.
Tie-Breaking Rule
If two or more candidates secure equal merit in the written examination, the candidate older in age shall be given preference.
Experience Certificate Condition
A selected candidate joining the institution as Senior Resident/Tutor shall not be issued an Experience Certificate if they fail to serve in the concerned position for at least six months.
