ENGAGEMENT TYPE :
Contractual engagement
Initial tenure of 1 year
Extendable up to a maximum of 5 years (one year at a time) based on performance and decision of the Commission

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONSÂ
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in:
Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics / Computer)
Law
Administration
Public Administration
Personnel Management
Public Services
Or equivalent qualification
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of experience in power sector–related matters
OR
Retired Secretary or Additional Secretary (Level 14 or above) of Government of India or State Government
Retired Electrical Engineer not below the rank of Superintending Engineer with experience in electricity distribution
Age Limit :
Maximum age : 65 years at the time of appointment

No TA/DA will be paid for interview or joining
Remuneration :
Fixed monthly remuneration of ₹30,000
No additional allowances or benefits applicable
LEAVE ENTITLEMENT
12 days Casual Leave per calendar year

Terms & Conditi0ns :
Engagement is purely contractual
No claim for regular appointment or continuation beyond the approved term
All other terms and conditions shall be determined by the Commission from time to time
Independent Member shall abide by the Electricity Act, regulations, and Consumer Advocacy Regulations, 2023
Member must not have any conflict of interest or association with power utilities or licensees
DISQUALIFICATION CONDITIONS
A person shall not be eligible or continue as Independent Member if he/she:
Is adjudged insolvent
Is convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude
Has been removed or dismissed from service
Has financial or professional conflict of interest
Has abused official position or acted against public interest
Has been involved in any activity prejudicial to the objectives of the Electricity Act
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in redressal of consumer grievances
Assist CGRF in discharge of its functions
Ensure timely disposal of consumer complaints
Support compliance with electricity laws and regulations
