The Department of Biotechnology, School of Life Sciences, Central University of Kashmir, Science Campus, Nunar, Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir, has invited online applications for the engagement of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an ANRF-sponsored research project. The recruitment advertisement was issued on 15 September 2026.
The selected candidate will work on the research project titled āNovel Breeding Tools for Durable Leaf Rust Resistance: Spatio-Temporal Epigenomic Insights into Lr34- and Lr28-Mediated Mechanisms in Wheat.ā
The appointment will be purely contractual for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of extension for another year depending on satisfactory performance.

NET/GATE qualified candidates: ā¹37,000 per month + 10% HRA
Non-NET/GATE candidates: ā¹25,000 per month + 10% HRA

Educational Qualification
Candidates applying for the Central University of Kashmir JRF Recruitment 2026 should possess:
M.Sc./M.Tech. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Agricultural Biotechnology, Plant Sciences, or a relevant discipline.

Prior research experience in plant molecular biology, gene expression analysis, epigenomic studies, or wheat rust resistance research will also be desirable.
Candidates with hands-on laboratory experience in techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing-related work and data analysis will have relevant experience for the position. Good scientific writing and communication skills are also desirable.
Age Limit
The upper age limit is 35 years as on the date of application, in accordance with ANRF norms.
Age relaxation will be applicable to SC/ST/OBC/Women/PWD candidates as per Government of India rules.
