Recruitment of Subject Matter Specialists (SMS) in Different Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of SKUAST-K
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has invited online applications from eligible candidates for filling up various vacant posts of Subject Matter Specialists (SMS) in different Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) under the university.
The recruitment is being conducted through direct recruitment for young, motivated, field-oriented candidates who are committed to working with farming communities across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
About Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs)
Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), established under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, are important institutional centres responsible for:
Transfer of agricultural technologies to farmers.
Capacity building and promotion of agri-entrepreneurship.
Validation and dissemination of agricultural innovations developed by research institutions.
Providing technical support and knowledge at district level.
The KVK system functions under the umbrella of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and operates through a centrally sponsored ICAR-funded agricultural extension scheme.
KVK employees work as frontline extension workers and technology transfer agents, ensuring that modern agricultural knowledge reaches farming communities at the grassroots level.

Important Notes Regarding Vacancies
Note 1 :
Candidates who had already applied for Subject Matter Specialist (Food Science & Technology/Home Science) under Advertisement Notice No. 05 of 2023 dated 31.03.2023 do not need to apply again.
However, such candidates can update their credentials through the online portal. Their earlier eligibility conditions, age limit and terms & conditions will remain applicable.
Note 2 :
All advertised posts are exclusively for Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).
The appointment, salary, allowances, career advancement and service conditions will be governed by:
ICAR rules and regulations.
Guidelines of the project scheme.
The posts are non-transferable to the main establishment of SKUAST-K.
Inter-KVK transfers may be considered whenever required, but candidates will have no claim for transfer or absorption in the university’s main establishment.

Posts are exclusively meant for KVKs.
Candidates must fulfil eligibility criteria on or before the last date of application.

Candidates applying under reserved categories must possess valid category certificates before the cutoff date.
