DSEK Kashmir Issues Directions on Summative Assessments for Schools Across Kashmir Division

Subject: Conduct of Summative Assessments/Annual Examinations in accordance with Government Orders and Academic Planner

CIRCULAR

In reference to the above Government Orders and the Academic Planner issued by this Directorate, it is reiterated that the Summative Assessments up to Class 8th and all related academic activities shall be conducted strictly in accordance with the prescribed Government framework, in alignment with NEP-2020, with due emphasis on:

• Competency-based assessment.
• Remedial teaching.
• Supplementary attempts.
• Implementation of the Holistic Progress Card (HPC).
• PARAKH-aligned assessment practices.
• Proper assessment data management.
• Strengthened Parent-Teacher Meetings.

Accordingly, all Chief Education Officers, Cluster Heads, Zonal Education Officers and Heads of Institutions are hereby enjoined to ensure strict adherence to the Academic Calendar/Planner issued by this Directorate vide the notification referred to above, in letter and spirit, by all Government and Government-recognized private schools.

The Chief Education Officers shall ensure overall compliance and monitoring in their respective jurisdictions, while the ZEOs and Cluster Heads shall closely monitor implementation at the Zonal/Cluster level.

The Heads of Institutions shall ensure the timely and proper conduct of the Summative Assessments and all related academic activities strictly as per the aforesaid Government Orders, Academic Calendar/Planner and prescribed assessment framework, without any deviation from the approved schedule.

The above instructions shall be strictly adhered to by all concerned.

In simple words: All Government and recognized private schools in Kashmir must conduct examinations up to Class 8 and related academic activities according to the approved academic planner and Government rules. Chief Education Officers, ZEOs, Cluster Heads and school heads are responsible for ensuring compliance and monitoring.
