TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From 21-08-2026, 1800 hrs to 22-08-2026, 1800 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane, undercutting between Samroli and the road widening work at Chenani and the stretch between Marog and Kishtwar Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 03 vehicles between Ramban and Banihal.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from TCU Srinagar/Jammu/Jawahar Tunnel. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Traffic managed on regulated manner at Dhalwas, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single lane about 30-40 Mtrs.
Passengers/LNMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/leakage of mud, as an ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
In view of widening work being undertaken by NHAI on Digdole-Khooni Nallah axis on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of Kashmir-bound and up traffic shall remain restricted on the stretch during daytime in between 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs as the movement of loaders loaded with inflammable material is restricted through tunnels. As such, the movement of up tankers shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1800 hrs up to 0800 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travelling in order to avoid any inconvenience and for their safety.
Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicles owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 23-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44):
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/HMVs/Private Cars/HMVs (Goods carrier) shall be allowed on both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall contact with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
ArmySF: Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) after ensuring the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishitwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the NHAI Jammu vide No. NHAI/CM/2026/2758-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SOPM Kashmir vide No. SOPM/SCZ/2026-2487/33 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after giving enough gap from road maintenance agencies/equipment, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to move from both sides at Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice-versa on the NH-244 during 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Panthar/Simthan travelling between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicles shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the D/C/ADM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Sonamarg only, after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies up to 1800 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs and no vehicles shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
HMVs are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SF/Convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GRE), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to 10 tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Heerapura (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicles shall be allowed after 1800 hrs.
The cut-off timing for movement will be strictly followed by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM/PS/2026-31 dated 03-07-2026. TCU Jammu and Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timing.
