In a major jolt to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Raghav Chadha and six other Rajya Sabha members on Friday announced their resignation from the party and said they will merge with the BJP.
AAP leader Ashok Mittal, who was appointed as the Rajya Sabha deputy leader to replace Chadha, has also resigned from the party, along with other Rajya Sabha members Sandeep Pathak, Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahney and Swati Maliwal.
“There are 10 AAP MPs in the Rajya Sabha, more than two-third of them are with us in this … this morning we submitted the signed letter (of all MPs) and documents to the Rajya Sabha Chairman … three of them are here before you. Besides us, there are Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahney and Swati Maliwal,” Chadha claimed during a press conference in Delhi, alongside Pathak and Mittal.
