Jammu Srinagar National Highway Update For 18th Feb 2026
TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 18-02-2026
From 16-02-2026, 1600 hrs. to 17-02-2026, 1600 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single lane traffic between Marog and Kishwari Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 03 HMVs.
In view of 20–30 Mtrs single-lane stretch at Kishwari Pather caused by the sinking of road, Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) shall be allowed to ply on alternate days.
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion.
Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle strictly as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as there is single lane traffic at Kishwari Pather.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/HPVs/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. However, HMVs shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after assessing the road and traffic situation and no HMV shall be allowed after 1400 hrs. TCU Udhampur shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing this traffic.
SFs Convoy Movement
Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriageway between Ramban and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Tomorrow they may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road is still closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, (after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies) only LMVs equipped with Anti-skid chains shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. In view of the apprehension of avalanches along the Zojila axis, these vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1500 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut off timing.
