Jammu Srinagar National Highway Update for 5th Feb 2026
🚦 Traffic Police HQ J&K – Key Points (05 Feb 2026)
🛣️ NH-44 (National Highway)
Slow movement observed due to single-lane traffic between Marog–Kishtwari Pather and breakdown of 3 HMVs.
Because of the 20–30 m single-lane stretch at Kishtwari Pather, HMVs allowed only on alternate days.
LMVs (cars, passenger vehicles) allowed both ways (Jammu ↔ Srinagar) if weather is fair.
HMVs from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund) → Jammu allowed after assessment, with cut-off up to 1600 hrs.
TCU Srinagar & Ramban to coordinate before releasing HMV traffic.
⚠️ Travel Advisory
Prefer daytime travel.
Night travel discouraged due to risks of shooting stones, landslides, and road construction (Ramban–Banihal).
Frost formation between Nachlana and NAVYUG Tunnel may cause slippery roads.
Follow lane discipline—wrong lane driving & overtaking will cause congestion.
🚛 Goods Vehicles
Vehicles carrying fresh perishables/live stock must strictly follow Traffic Police timing advisories.
🪖 Security Forces (SFs)
Requested not to move against advisory due to narrow carriageway.
SF convoy from Jammu → Srinagar only after confirming NH-44 status.
❄️ Roads Closed
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH-244): Closed due to snow.
Mughal Road: Closed due to snow.
🧊 SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri)
Open only for LMVs with anti-skid chains (after BRO clearance).
Movement allowed Srinagar ↔ Kargil (1100–1500 hrs).
No vehicle allowed after cut-off time.
